The Gallardo for me felt like mid-engined 996TT, faster, but just as involving and with better sound of course. I went then to a 360 and felt the lack of power, but it did feel more like a true sports car. Also I was back in a Ferrari and there's something about it that no other car can duplicate in the world. Nothing is as special, is something almost magical.

oh seen.. my mistake for the misinterpretation.

I can agree with you on that aspect.. the Ferrari "feel" is indeed the signiture justification for the premium price tag.

    enjoy it in good health

    Hey guys:

I had a similar question regarding my 2000 360 (Manual). I was thinking about trading it w/ cash for 2003 Murcielago (manual 40th anniversary edition).

From what I heard, the Murcielago is relative cheap to maintain and not too many problems?

    Is this true?

    Thanks.

I wouldn't say that about the Murc. I had one for a little bit, and the side spoilers would always jam. Was a fortune to fix. Then, the radio and A/C broke. This was in a matter of months. Maybe mine was an isolated problem car. If you are going to get one, I would definitely leave some room for repairs. Oh, and be sure to test drive it first. VERY hard for me to see out of it. The rear window slats were tough to see through, and side visibility is non-existent. Gallardo was easier, but then again it was smaller.

The Murci is a VERY reliable car - but regular maintenance is a ***** (10K for a clutch!). That being said, I love taking mine out on the town for dinner - that is when it is in its element. The car as a daily driver
is very impractical, but it is not difficult to do - it is that reliable.

For Ferrari FUN though buy a CS and never look back!''

I drove a Gallardo spider for a day a while back. At first I was like 'Wow, this thing is really amazing, etc. etc' but after about 30 minutes, it felt kind of lame, kind of like the world's biggest go-kart.

I gave the car back to its owner never really caring to drive one again.

I drive my 360 spider every day, and in all the hours and miles I've put on it, I've never had that bored feeling I got in the Gallardo. It's almost like the Gallardo is too tight a package. It's too neat and refined. It's technically has more power (and handles better in high speed corners from a SOTP perspective) but it's somehow not as exciting as the Ferrari.

Also, somehow I've bonded with my Fcar. She's my hot naughty girlfriend. The Gallardo is the sleeker more sophicticated chick, who you know is technically better all around, but just doesn't do it for you the same in bed.

it's hard to really articulate why the modena (or ferrari in general) is more desireable than the lamborghini.. but when it comes to gallardo vs modena.. it's really really hard to choose the gallardo if you buy with your heart.. I TRIED.. and I failed..

    oh well.. :)

I already mentioned this in past but Gallardo is for me one of the ugliest cars ever.I know most of you strongly disagree but i just can not even watch this car. Strange mirrors, strange headlights, etc....I did not drive it, can not say anything about handling. Sometimes i just sit in garage and watch my Modena and i can not get bored, same for driving.

Lambo for me is Murci - thats pure exotic car. I love Murci especially LP640,just scares me little bit how big, powerfull and heavy it is....One day i will get Murci.

I'm new, but I'll put my $0.02 in since that is all I have left, after this past week stock market crash. I've been a long time Lambo lover ever since the day I saw Cannonball Run in 1981. When that Countach rolled up and the girls popped out, so did I!!! But where I live, San Diego, it seems I see about 10 Gallardo's to 1 Ferrari. Consequently, the more Lambo's I see, the more I want a Ferrari. Funny, I never thought I'd say those words. It really just comes down to personal preference. For me the Ferrari, for you...

I had a Gallardo before a 360 and I really did regret owning the 360 over the Gallardo. I really like the Gallardo and if I had to go back to either one I know the Gallardo is the choice for me.

Which is funny since there are over 4X 360/430 made than Gallardo.....I think that speaks to greater reliability, lower repair costs, and a far less "mileage penalty".

Really, there are no bad choices.....hate the wedge shape......or think the 360/430 is shaped like a jelly bean.

I tested an 06 Gallardo, an 08 Gallardo, an 09 LP560, an 02 360 and an 05 430 before I made my decision. If you can't make the stretch to an 05 430 and you want e-gear or F1 then wait unitil you can get at least an 08 Gallardo. The e-gear in earlier Gallardos is no better than the F1 in the 360. Even the LP560 e-gear is not as good as the 05 430 F1, but the 08 I drove was better than the 06 Gallardo. I didn't think the 06 Gallardo interior was as comfortable even though it "appears" to be better made and more up-to-date than the 360 (German feel maybe, my daily driver is a Cayenne Turbo). I liked the 08 interior better, and it seemed to use newer Audi switchgear, reminded me of my wife's Q7 (maybe it was just because the car was newer); and the LP560 is better still. I also agree that the Lambo draws more attention than the 360 or 430. During the test drives other drivers were all over the Lambos while the F cars went along almost unoticed. If you like the attention and want a manual the earlier Gallardos are hard to beat if the interior fits you (you can even get cupholders). If you want the look that only the 360 or 430 have and the special feeling you can only get when you drive a Fcar, then I would try to find a 360 CS or wait until I could make the stretch to a 430. I waited and I'm glad I did.

    Handling, Gallardo

    Stability, Gallardo

    Ergonomics, Gallardo

Distinctive or more unique/exotic looking, Gallardo

Fun factor, equal for me since both cancel out their differences.

And a plus was the admiring looks and stares from the females around.

I was happy and liked the 360 very very much but, I would rather own a Gallardo.

Will the interior in a Gallardo 'fit' ,me at 6'7"? I never even looked at Gallardos as I heard they were cramped. I have plenty of room in the 360 I went to; much more than the Corvette I was driving.

My nephew was ok as a passenger in my Gallardo and the driver side is always better, he is 6'4" but, more flexible as he was 15 at the time.

Same scenario as you, just a little time later time wise! Gallardo vs Modena 360F1. Die was cast this week and am anxiously awaiting my 2003 F1 Modena to be delivered next week after belt service completed and clear bra installed. Traded in my new Lotus Elise which I only enjoyed for a short time and loved. Was hit in parking lot as a pedestrian by BMW Z car and lost my left leg.

This is Ferrarichat. If you ask people on THIS forum, they'll say 360. Go to Lamborghinichat and ask the same question. They'll say Gallardo.
Go with your gut feeling. :)

I hope you're well, I was hit as a pedestrian back in early 2000's and got a handicap permit, and since then it allows me to drive any car anywhere.

If you need more leg room the F-cars are the way the go. I don't fell there is a lot of headroom difference. I'm only 6' so there was not an interior fit issue for me.

I hear you to all of the above.. and yet.. I paid almost the exact same money for an older, 360 modena.. What can I tell ya.. sometimes being better on paper only means so much..

The Gallardo is STRIKING looking, the 360 is ELEGANT looking.. I found myself getting annoyed at the way the gallardo looked the more and more I looked at it.. something about it.. When you rarely see a gallardo and then see one for the first time it's impressive..(hence the stares).. But you can look at a modena time and time and time and time again, and truly marvel at the beauty in it's design, the fluid lines etc..

Maybe it's just me, since I wanted a black car.. that the 360 looked so much nicer.. but in BLACK, next to each other.. the 360 just ooozes sex appeal.. the Gallardo oozes awesomeness.. I went with the sex appeal. :)
