Who says it all in the ultimate rock anthem of the 20th century? Are there others? Who in your opinion played the sh$t out of a Fender, etc?

Both Stairway and Free Bird are great, but Free Bird is a little more interesting to listen to, considering its a 5-way guitar solo.

Besides, its a lot of fun to play on Guitar Hero.

DISCLAIMER: I NEVER WANT TO HEAR EITHER OF THOSE SONGS EVER AGAIN!

But, I think "Stairway" would have to be up there, if not #1.

Jimmy Page played Stairway on a Gibson SG and Gary Rossington played a Gibson Les Paul.

If you're going to try and pile on an already popular thread at least get your facts straight.

I know that. You can easily see at a glance what they played from original film. I owned a Les Paul Custom in the early 70s but always felt the Fender Strat screamed louder & harder.

Im a little burned out on both to be truthful.

And while I think Stairway is a perfect song, Freebird for some reason elicits more emotion from me.

As for who rocks the Fender more...Well Id have to go with

    Gilmour
    Blackmore
    Yngwie
    Vaughn

    But mostly HENDRIX

I'm not a fan of Stairway or Free Bird.

From what I've thought of so far, I'd have to go with:
Guns N' Roses - Sweet Child O' Mine (Slash's guitar riff alone earns it anthem status)
AC/DC - You Shook Me All Night Long

I'm afraid the last two minutes of Free Bird irritates me a whole bunch - I can't listen to it anymore.

Free Bird, great emotion and purpose in the song. The live version from "One More From The Road".

He doesn't play a Fender Strat, rather, a custom guitar that resembles one. ;)

both suck and are way overplayed. Time for the boomers to go away and take their music with them.

I saw Vai in concert 10+yr's ago and although he is impressive I did not enjoy the concert that much, and I have been TRYING to play the guitar for 30+yr's. I did enjoy Eric Johnson's concert, also 10+yr's ago, but the main one I will never forget is seeing Jeff Beck at the Coliseumin the early 80's, that was amazing!

Sorry so back on topic, for me it would have to be Free Bird but not by a big margin.

I would agree with that between those two choice's but if I had MY choice it would be the original member's of Pink Floyd "See Emily Play" and without Sid it would be 'Dog's'.
