I'm planning on going to this event with my wife for my birthday. Is anybody familiar with the seating and track? I'm looking to have a grandstand seat, probably at the end of the straight, but was hoping there were still areas to go closer trackside for pictures. I haven't been able to get a hold of the ticket office there, and have been searching the web for other info. Any help would be appreciated!

Those are some good seats also consider Attitudes, that is a section where spectators can snap some decent shots from the fence. You can pay for a ticket to sit in the stands or just get a GA ticket and bring folding or directors chairs (much cheaper and more comfortable IMHO)

Clubhouse is good too, but spendy...

Another option is loading up the camper and buying an RV pass.. which, if you sit in the back of your truck or roof of the RV, will give you an even better view of the track and because you pay per vehicle and not person the cost is much much more reasonable.

I will be covering the race from the press "Booth" (the glass section above the pits) and photographing track side. Look for the hat and give me a holla !

Should be a fun weekend and take your wife to the pits so she can see Patrick Dempsey, chicks dig him!

    Cheers

We've gone to several ALMS races there and don't use any seating areas. Normally for the start we're just at pit out area then also watch down by turn one. Wandering and viewing from multiple locations is the name of the game in these races!

Awesome, thanks guys. Looks like I'll just be taking some chairs and doing GA then. My hopes for the grandstand was to have an overview of more of the track. Can you still do that with GA?

Stackhouse, I'll definately give ya a shout if I see ya! :)

It will be a lot of walking but there are some areas that you can enjoy a nice view from GA. bring water and folding chairs. Look for me and my partner.. we will be shooting all weekend!

Excellent race. Starting to like the track, even though it doesn't have the most exciting features.

The black RX8 is wicked! Never paid them attention until seeing and hearing it at Laguna Seca. Wanted to get one, until I realized the stock version is not even close.

Great shot Stackhouse! I had my camera on video...and oddly enough, have video of you taking that exact picture. :p

TopElement, the RX8's sounded awesome. Too bad the Ferrari had mechanical probs and had to quit, they had the best sounding car of all. You knew it was coming, if you could hear it over the Mazdas! And I agree with you about the track. They really need to do some land scaping.
