I would urge you to please be respectful, there's no reason to call anybody a stupid kid or an idiot in what was up to now an adult conversation - I'm talking about both of you guys. Correct, since if they made no profit they wouldn't be making anything anymore and would be a sad footnote in the history of great cars and great designs. And I'd remind you that you asked the question why anybody got him to run the business. It was to make make money and sell cars to people who have money, that's what shareholders pay guys like him for. Unfortunately for you, Lamborghini is a business and not a hobby and probably won't ever be able to release anything short of a flying saucer to match how radical the LP400 was in '74. But then again, we all know that.
Forget jaw dropping designs. Safety has trumped it. Can't wait to see that Lambo with side, top, and rear airbags. No matter what the new car is it'll be a disappointment to us old school guys, as are all new supercars.
i get the vibe from some of the people in the room...Lambo has lost that "edge" which set them apart from everything else. lambo is more mainstream now than it was back in the 80's and 90's, obviously due to the fact that production was limited at that time, and due to the adopted mentality of a large car manufacturer being injected into Lamborghini, is turned into a "darker" version of itself...as though its lost its innocence (so to speak). what started out to be nothing more than a car made to heighen the senses and raise the heartbeats of anyone who sees it, or has the priveledge to drive it, has started to become nothing more than a "Product". they are becoming increasingly common, even though the sight of one would obviously turn heads...but i have the feeling that as time goes by, as more and more are made, people are going to stop turning heads to glimpse at a Lamborghini...and (to me) is when i know Lamborghini has truly died.
Lamborghini can't go back to the past! They won't release a car that "old school Lamborghini fans" want because they need to make money, its business and nothing more. Remember that Lamborghini has been jumping from 1 owner to another and were not very profitable, not until Germany got their hands on it. If they release any Ferrari California rival for $100k+, Lamborghini will be for sale again because Porsche will not allow that. IMO, Gallardo is the "cheapest" car they will make. Who cares what it's going to be, it's a new Lamborghini..finally.
Lamborghini can't get by on it's name alone. It has to deliver...Actually it's up against impossible odds IMO.

....(sic.!). Do your homework: the correct name is Stefan Winkelmann. Or would you call Luca de Montezemolo as Luke Mountzero??? Ciao! Walter
Yes, and BOING has to recreate their Triplane from WW I to get you safer over the pond, eh? Man - days have changed (seems to me that you are living on a different planet. Ever owned a Countach & Miura? I did! Its impossible today to build such cars anymore! WAKE UP, man, we are in 2008 with all its international homologation rules!!)! Ciao! Walter
+Very Well Said! Times have changed. The Miura and Countach are/were true enthusiast cars, but the target market has changed drastically. Today's average enthusiast demands an easy daily-driveable supercar. The majority of men in suits or playboy's do not want to show up to a party/event sweating and exhausted from manouvering their supercar's there. They much rather pull up in the style and comfort of a modern day car with its perfect mix of flare, comfort and performance. The truth lies in the numbers. As previously stated, revenues are up over 30% this year. Winklemann is doing something right, there is no denying that. True enthusiasts will frown upon the age of supercars, not just Lamborghini. I think the majority of people who have the money and are in the market for these cars will have their cheque books ready. My $0.02
Assuming its a 2+2 type of car with a V10, my hope is that they move cars by pricing it reasonably. By that I mean, don't make it a car that competes with the 612 at $330k plus, make it priced equal or a little bit lower than the Gallardo, say $175K range and I think they have a winner on their hands. I'm interested at that price, I'm not interested at $200K plus.
The little air-outlet next and on top to the wheel-arch indicates a car with front-engine layout! Otherwise this detail doesn`t make sense. Even when its a fake-detail we would not see it on a mid-engine-car! Not sure if Porsche would be amused about a new Espada...... Ciao! Walter
"The aurochs or urus (Bos taurus primigenius) was a very large type of cattle that was prevalent in Europe until its extinction in 1627. The animal's original scientific name, Bos primigenius, was meant as a Latin translation of the German term Auerochse or Urochs, which was (possibly incorrectly) interpreted as literally meaning "primeval ox" or "proto-ox". This scientific name is now considered invalid by ITIS, who classify aurochs under Bos taurus, the same species as domestic cattle. In 2003, however, the International Commission on Zoological Nomenclature "conserved the usage of 17 specific names based on wild species, which are pre-dated by or contemporary with those based on domestic forms",[1] confirming Bos primigenius for the Aurochs. Taxonomists who consider domesticated cattle a subspecies of the wild Aurochs should use B. primigenius taurus; the name B. taurus remains available for domestic cattle where it is considered to be a separate species."
I hope very much too. A four place yes but not a four door please... Philippe M. Espada S2 7987 www.lamboghinimiura.com
Definitely it would NOT eat up the Panamera-sales as a new Espada would more expensive. Also the production numbers in the Lambo-factory are quite limited so the possible 4.seater comes in much lesser numbers. I recently saw the new Panamera-production line (near the Cayenne-line) in Leipzig, Germany. This production line is so long, the entire Lambo-production with all current and future versions would fit onto it. Ciao! Walter
I saw the Miura concept back at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in July '06. It's a pity it wasn't put into even a limited production run as it looked amazing. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
