That thing is too cool! Too bad it doesn't have the original front bench seat that folds flat for late night activities. Don't know about the leather CV joint boots and wiring harness.
Ferrambo strikes again: http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=193549 http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=210941 http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=211051
have seen it before; never understood why they called this Ferrambo. I know this creation is someone's pride and joy, and it is very different. But maybe it's just me..... or.... I must be missing something. I just don't really get it. Maybe I'm not cool enough to get it.
I get a kick out of these people who say a Ferrari w/o a Ferrari engine is not a Ferrari, yet another car (aka this street rod) w/ a Ferrari engine is a POS.... the logic does not follow. A street rod is a modified/compliation/interpritation/free form peice of art.... You take a car, power it by any means you have & morf it into a working/driving car by the means you have possible. In the old days that meant you hacked a chevy lump into a ford and vice-versa. In todays modern world there are other options available. In this example they are saying that they had an old rambler sitting out behind the shop and somehow came upon a Ferrari engine......as such they made them work together. It's calssis street rod mentality...cross functionality of makes and marques. At least that is my take.
true it would be nice for late nite picnic activities (with or with out food)but even with all the incredible craftmanship that went into it...its still a rambler wagon!asking 1/2 a million?? id like a taste of whatever thar guy is smoking!!
It's not my cup of tea but the creation certainly required a high level of creativity and craftsmanship...for that I appreciate their effort.
Don't assume that guy's who like some cars are car guy's .... most are posers I saw the Ferrarambo at SEMA last year ... it's a fantastic piece of work. G
Get real .......... it depends if you like Hot Rods and such Yea there is craftmanship but is there anything new here? IMO it is a lot harder to start woth a clean sheet of paper and design somthing that is fresh and new. Why is it fantastic?
Design is not always a linear progression. Yes it is harder to start with a clean sheet... Yet some of the best desgins (homes, cars, art, etc) have already been hit upon. Why have many car companies gone "retro". Because some of the car desgins & elements born in the 50-60' were timless desgins. A Frank Llyod Wright house looks just as modern and up to date today as the day he desgined it in 1960. Cars like the Pantera, Muira, XKE, Mid year Corvette, 512 BB stand the test of time. As pedestrian as a Rambler Wagon might be to the casual observer, the lines, the proportion, the memories it evokes are as such timless and come through in a modern interpritation. JMHO.
Had they restored the Rambler to near-stock appearance, frame-off style, original paint color, original interior with minor appearance upgrades such as the steering wheel, a little dropped, then modified it with the Ferrari engine, it would be the ultimate sleeper. You'd never know by looking at it what lurks under the hood. But instead they did the Boyd Coddington/Chip Foose style retro-modern street rod. I guess you either dig that culture or you don't. I don't doubt it's beautiful in person. It appears that no expense or pain was spared.
This thing is awsome!!! I'm pretty sure people who have actually built something can appreciate this thing. I know I do.
It is a nice piece of work, but not a $500k nice piece to me. If they can get someone to pay $1MM that would be crazy. BT
+1 Especially one that's been crafted mostly by two hands and originiality. Price is way too much, but I would roll that beast all the time.
If he was gonna use an AMC car for a base model, shoulda tried stuffing all of that into a Metropolitan...now THAT woulda been a car
