This is a very small thing.. Allow the titles under the username to be changed, but only by mods. A few other message boards that I have been on have done this and it is really quite amusing to see the names that the mods come up with for people based on their posting habits and personalities.
mod squad can edit user profiles as follows: Avatar Profile Photo Signature This is simply to remove any material deemed "offensive", links to all the wrong places, etc.. But, not titles. Bummer!
P&R is separated out because people will always discuss politics. Off Topic ended up dominated by politics, and so it was separated, and then later moved to the subscribed area. As with any other section, one can choose to not participate in it. The Europeans have tried to shut it down for years -- I'm surprised to see you join them. If you want nuanced political discussion, there are indeed other forums for that
Every other part of FerrariChat is about as interesting as any supermarket tabloid. So, let's trim Fchat's opening page to this. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Rob, Newsletters still are stuck at APR 2008. Needs fixing. I have tried to tell folks what to expect when signing up for FChat. You can't get that kind of info without going to another computer and trying to log on. For example: You can read text but not see pictures without registering. When registering you do not get enough info as to limitations. For example: Number of attachments that can be posted before needing to subscribe? How about adding all privilege descriptors to Paid Subscriptions and just call it Subscriptions. Or just add the info as part of the descriptor for Silver. Be nice for members to find current priveliges all in one place. You can find the no-nos easily but not the yes-yeses. Still need to add "two word" search. And a sharpen function for downloaded pictures. Pic Subforums sounds good. Don't lose the links to the artists. Their work is really a feather in FChat's hat and covers the interests of all forums. John
That is what the usercp is for, bookmark that as your link to fchat and you will only see subsribed forums and new posts in subscribed threads.
That link isn't even available on FerrariChat anymore, you just have a short cut to it and page still exists although you are the only one using it.
Rob, When you jump back to FerrariChat.com from anywhere you get a line: Special Links, below that: Sub Forums... Dave's store, Newsletters, etc. Still works tonight. That is how I got there. John
oops, I need to learn a little about this site. Forgot we had that in the forums now, I knew it was removed from the menu bar. My bad, I will start updating it again. Thanks.
Rob, this morning when I first logged on I had 3 new PM's, but didn't check them----then the site went down for maintenance---since the site has been back up the PM's are gone---any way to retrieve them?
No, although if you were a user on AviatorChat.com at some point it may have been PM's from there. Over the years we had a few PM spammers on AviatorChat and last night with the transfer those might have been AC PM's in your FC box. Still possible someone sent you a PM between 9:30 PM last night and this morning when site was still up. Sorry about that.
one way you could improve ferrarichat would be to create a section solely to be used by true ferrari experts. this would give an unbiased forum on topics that only experts would be permitted to respond to. we have so many armchair experts who divulge spurious or unwarranted opinions on practically anything imagineable. an expert such as rifledriver, steve magnusson, fastradio, etc. who make their livings working on these machines ought to be the only ones to respond (if they care to) to a given question. i think this concept would benefit everyone. this would not be an "elitist" tribunal, but rather a clearinghouse for problems that deserve a cogent, reliable answer. essentially a tutorial exchange process. ____________________________________________________________ an expert is anyone who is more than 20mi. from home......mark twain
I agree in theory, but jokingly don't we have dozens of full time Ferrari mechanics on FC like rifledriver and do they all agree? How about the dozens of published Ferrari authors we have on FC, do they always agree or ever take a break from suing each other? Half joking of course, even if "experts" aren't agreeing, it at least cuts out the arm chairs. However, I also find the "experts" to be a little more quick tempered and more apt to highlight the faults of others than a humble arm chair that realizes their limitations and works with and not against others. Sorry, too much stereotyping on my part, good idea maybe for a moderated forum where users post questions and only certain users can answer. Thanks.
p.s. when i become king of the world i will demand total compliance! afterall, these cars are tuff enough to care for without having quacks recommending nostrums to fix things up. _____________________ balls!... said the red queen

Would there be a way to have verified owners have some sort of icon or something next to their screen name that designated them as such? This could be an extension of the "secret owners area"
nope. how about a special icon. or a special avatar. hell, anything to distinguish them from us mere sh**theads who think we know it all.
How about taking the Tech Q&A section and dividing it among each model section the question is about--If you have a 308 question, post in 308 section, if you have a 348, post in 348 section, etc... Do the same with the Showroom----divide it into each model specific section....
I disagree with this, as techheads tend to cross models. I learn as much from Ernie and his mutant 348 as I do from Mark and his mutant 308
