Maybe I'm missing something here but it appears as though the more time passes, the more evidence comes to defend LH in his pass of KR @ Spa. Let's throw out all the 'I don't like LH' dribble and only look at the facts:

    1. LH only left the circuit (ie cutting the chicane) to avoid a collision with KR after KR did not heed racing room to his competitor as per the FIA regulations.

Anyone who has the slightest knowledge of racing and vehicle dynamics can see that LH was WELL in control of his car at all times and only left the track surface when he was in a position that it was either have an accident or leave the track. It seems like all the people I have spoken to about this who are involved in racing have no argument on this subject. It is also worthy of mention that most agree that KR shoving LH off the road, despite being against the rules, is one of those turn a blind eye situations where hard racing causes a rule bending here and there. I agree with this and so does a former F1 driver and another LeMans winner I asked on the subject.

    2. After LH cut the chicane, he slowed enough to let KR past him thereby negating any advantage gained by cutting the chicane.

If anyone cares to go back on some of my previous posts, they will see my physics observation of this showing that there is no way that, when LH was behind KR, that LH took an advantage and that the distance he was behind KR was not enough to generate a meaningful if any aerodynamic tow at all. I confirmed this full theory with a F1 aerodynamicist BTW and he was in total agreement with me.

    3. Having erased the gain from cutting the chicane, LH then overtook KR at the following corner.

Again LH was fully in control of his car and it was KR who rear ended him (as in the past I would overlook KR's technical breaking of the rules in hitting LH as it is a part of hard racing).

Here the rules were not clear or possibly never considered as LH passed AFTER he gave back his advantage. It was not until the NEXT RACE that the FIA made a new rule that clarified the first where passing is not allowed until one corner has been passed after the advantage is returned. Obviously it is not fair for LH to be held to a new rule that even the FIA did not decide upon until after the fact.

    4. The FIA granted an appeal and then disallowed it.

The only thing I can take from this is that the FIA realized with the evidence at the appeal that McLaren and LH were RIGHT that they had to find another way of getting their way so they disallowed the appeal. This is despite the fact that they heard an appeal under almost identical circumstances regarding V. Liuzzi in the past.

This has nothing to do with liking a team or a driver, it has to do with the governing body of a sport we like treating its fans and followers like a bunch of chumps. Arrogant in the knowledge that regardless of what they do, enough people will continue to watch the races. They do things how they want when they want and we still follow it.

Disagree 100%. There is more evidence to refute your argument than support it. You should read the interview with Eddie Jordan, an man within the sport, yet with no reason to "fear" the FIA. http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=215282

This topic has been hashed over ad nauseum, is there a need to start another thread??

I have refrained from responding to your on going ridiculous comments as I promised, certainly I have refrained from calling you names, but you continue with your absolute anal behavior with now current references to me such as " ^Unbelievable the place is full of jokers", "the rest is for suckers". Pretty obvious. Get over yourself.

I do not agree with you at all about anything, no reason to even acknowledge you until you now cross the line and start making personal references. Criticize the message, not the messenger. I will call your ideas silly or ridiculous, but I have tried not to make any references to individuals. Since you have great difficulty with this, I will give you an idea of how that works, as you could have simply said: "I fiind it ridiculous to place any merit in the words of a retired F1 team owner/manager". Your point would have been made, and you would not have made a personal reference to me or anyone. I hope that was easy for you to understand?

I would request that you stop making any reference to me at all, good or bad.

FYI, I have never dismissed a retired F1 Team Mangaer /Owner, so stop with your ongoing continual lies. I have much more respect for the opinion of a former team owner than the comments of aging retired drivers that work as TV announcers. Them I have dismissed totally. Managing a team, a business, is much different than just driving the car. The manager's perception involves substantially more than a driver. It requires a level headed outlook at every aspect of the team's operation.

Nevertheless, please stop making any direct or indirect reference to me. But thank you for showing your true colors. And if you think this place is full of jokers, what are you doing here?

The guy accused me of hiding behind a keyboard then jumped all over me when I defended myself.

He is so emotionally into Hamilton that any criticism sends him into a rage--can't see straight; can't think straight; can't write straight.

I like Kimi, but I am objective enough to know when he screws up. That doesn't make me like him less, it makes me frustrated that he didn't get the job done.

There are many of us out here that have chosen simply to refrain from engaging the guy anymore. It cuts down on the King Lewis accolades.

Im sorry folks...but Im with Ron just AGAIN...

...and guess what, is the first time we get supported by the GP drivers, name a few like Trulli, Glock, Webber, Raikonnen, Massa, Kubika...

    ...Eddie Jordan, Ferrari Staff...oh well...

THE GUY HAS AN ADVANTAGE...he´s Hamilton for Christ Sake!!!...

THIS IS A BRITISH SPORT RUINED BY THOSE BLOODY ITALIANS AND THEIR RED STUPID CARS...

WHAT THE HECK DO YOU THINK THEY DID WITH THE CRANE, THE PIT LANES, THE CRASHES...-althogh I wont coment on Kimmis stupidity blood count but well, Im on Ferraris side remember?-

...HAMILTON does that as a race strategy!!! "chiken chicane" every rainy GP...he just blips the steering to leave a telemetry mark and say "there you see? I tryed to take the bloody turn!"...

most drivers were vocal and MAD about half the "brilliant" passes he made on the way up, and the move prove crucial to win the race...

HE TOOK ADVANTAGE, HE GOT CLOSER, HE PASSED...AND WON...

he deserved the penalty...and if the penalty meant adding 25 secs to his time and that puts him in third...oh well, TOO BAD.

...for me, what Trulli said wins it all...something like -AND I DONT QUOTE- "what if instead of a chicane there was a wall? Aint that what we say to every driver in the safety meetings? a chicane is a wall! we better clear that up or the whole grid will be doing it exactly "...

...and I dont think TRULLI is half as good the driver Hamilton is...

You are utterly and completely wrong. How can you say Hamilton did not get an advantage when pratically EVERY F1driver currently competing in F1 (except Hamilton and possibly Heiki) agrees that Hamilton would have never been able to take on Kimi in La Source if he had taken the chicane correctly?

The FIA didn´t grant the appeal. They received it and gave McLaren/Hamilton the opportunity to state their case, but it was always a possibily that in the end the appeal would be ruled inadmissable. This outcome was no surprise.

The main question is however: whatever compelled you to open yet another thread on this subject? It is all water under the bridge. The Motorsport Council has ruled and thats it. McLaren/Hamilton have pledged to move on, so why don´t you?

No one is saying LH wouldn't have been able to pull the move off at his first attempt, he gave the position back, then we have the problem of a rule that suddenly appeared AFTER the race had finished, and AFTER, the stewards had contacted the pervert.
It was 100% a given that the appeal would be ruled inadmissable, So Why then did they even bother to hear the appeal, and waste everyones time, it's BS thats why, and an appeal would show it up for the joke it is.

The reason for this thread and other's, is to show the disgust and lack of credibility that the FIA are giving this sport, you may quite well want to move on, water under the bridge, yeh right head in the sand more like.

Explain why no penalty was given here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-5UnPeyzcHM and you have a point, but guess what!! you won't.

I suppose this is the best way http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f4uNSYTnhnA

You're first point is wrong. LH was in complete control and links were posted earlier to show he could have easily made the corner BEHIND KR. KR is in the lead and he has the right to the corner.

Now, did LH gain an advantage, maybe, maybe not. But his error was in passing him right back after he let KR go 1m bye him. He should have just waited until the next corner and this whole mess would have been avoided.

That being said, the penalty was too harsh (although within the rules). They should have just given him a grid penalty at the next race.

    I disagree with this completely.
What Hammy was trying to do is pass on the outside. One has to be a clearly ahead to try to pass on the ouside of a corner. He did not and that is the reason why he could not make the pass "stick".
Raikonnen did not "push" him off the track. He had every right to take the line that he did in the corner.
Assume that Raikkonen is on the edge of traction during the corner. He is unable to take any other line than the one he took. If he braked more trying to give Hammy more room, he would have slid off crashing into Hammy. He certainly could not turn in more if he is on the edge of traction.
But let's assume that he was not on the edge of traction, that he had more traction available to him for cornering and braking. Should he have let Hammy through when he is not ahead of him in the corner? Of course not, no race drive is going to do allow that. This is racing after all.

In actuality, Hammy was a touch behind. What Hammy should have done is to brake more and fall in behind Raikkonen though the rest of the chicane. Instead, he chose to cut the chicane like the cheater that he is turning out to be.

Thank you for taking the time to find old quotes of mine to prove me correct once again. That had to be time consuming, all that work just for a silly forum. Never expected you would help me.

As I said, I never mentioned I did not respect the opinon of former team owners/managers such as Eddie Jordan, only that I placed no importance on the opinion of old RETIRED RACE DRIVERS, just as your quotes prove. One thing, maybe the only thing, that I agree with Ron Dennis.

    So thanks!
