Hi All, I have a mate who's keen on the Lotus 340R comming up at the Sydney Shannons auction. I know this is a long shot but has anyone driven one of these beasts? & What's it worth????? Cheers Brook308
It's an awesome car to drive. I'm looking forward to the auction too. $100k won't be unreasonable due to rarity.
they are going for 17-22,000 pounds in england with only 3 for sale on autotrader.co.uk.... direct conversion is around $40k. but im sure it will fetch much more than that. how much.... no idea.
Orphan car, can't be registered. Will be tough to sell especially now. The two or three here were all imported by the agent in qld for track day use last I heard. Spectacular car on track by all accounts but really for the freight estimated there is better out there.
If this is the car i think it is, it can be reg'd theres about 6 in the country and at least 3 of them are road reg'd as for price its in the eye of the beholder, last year this guy was hoping to get like $130 - $140k for it. now he's down around $100k realistically, id say somewhere around $80k would be fair. allot of ppl like the idea of the car, but few actually would have it.
Some have been over as personal imports and as such are registerable and registered. As for value - high!! in terms of what it will sell for I think Looney is right! A rare beast to own if its your thing (I'd prefer a road rego'd 2-eleven but that's not likely )
Bah! You all forgot the link! http://www.shannons.com.au/auctions/lot/?id=I231G230OAB051W6 Aren't these a pain in the balls to service due to the need to remove the bodywork to get to the motor?
That is true - but how often do you need that much access?? There is a simple and common modification to split the body into two parts for ease of access if you wish (but it wouldn't be a proper Lotus if it was easy!!!)
