I personally don't have time to sit down and scan bills for someone on the internet--that's just me.... Secondly----all this info has been posted about 800 times over the last 5 years--do a search or look in the 355 section...

You need to either A) own the car for an extended period of time B) be a service technician with first hand experience on the car in question (355 or whatever) If this is the case I will take the opinion of the poster with more than a grain of salt..

As useful as ferrarichat can be sometimes (I used the challenge grill powdercoating tip I got on here, which turned out spectacular!) it also can be a haven of misinformation and conjecture.. be careful and keep this in mind as you read "opinions"

which is funny because i take what some paranoid 355 owners, specially the ones that have never had to do these repairs on their cars, with a grain of salt because the are obviously paranoid and subjective. you can certainly take whatever post you want any way you want. But implying that my post was misinformation or conjecture is misinformation and conjecture itself. Unless, of course you can point to some misinformation i posted. made that challenge several times in this thread. Until you can, people will take your post with a grain of salt.

To turn the tables on your "logic" please post where I stated I was referring to YOU per se in my post, assuming I was referring to you is just, how did you repeatedly put it? "paranoid"

back to the facts people...355 needs the engine out for belts, plan for $5-8k every 3-5 yrs. unless you DIY (then it's closer to $1-$2k). Headers MAY need replacing on all years at some point, $3k for Fabspeeds with lifetime warranty. Valve guides at the time of the major is an extra $1k I believe, or buy a late '98 or '99 and they're fine. Sticky interior is an easy DIY with a $10 can of Easy Off oven cleaner. Throw in another $1k to be conservative for unexpected stuff and you have the 355 maintenance costs. Depreciation is slowing down, you may lose $1k per year now. Now you have the ownership costs, take it or leave it.

Signed, one happy non-paranoid 355 owner who drives the car daily :D

I think valve guides are a hell of a lot more than $1k from what I have been told. I hope you are correct regarding depreciation!

Yeah don't quote me there for sure, I thought I had read that IF they're done at the time of an engine out major. Maybe $2k? Even so if you're buying a $60-$80k car that's not a huge deal.

I have had my 355 for over 3 years, driven the hell out of it . Its the cheapest exotic and most reliable sports car I have ever had, have had one blown fuse for the a/c fan thats it, my old 328 had all sorts of issues small ones such as busted clutch cables -355 is hydraulic, hot melted fuse box in the 328 big bux and common, missing from dist caps getting corroded- 355 doesnt have 2 that cost 300 each on and on. My Boxer is less hassle than my 328, just an example as the 328 is praised by many here including mechanics that its a reliable Ferrari. My 328 was not a bad car at all very reliable in a sense but the 355 has been trouble free

no implication either.. my statement was a general obsevation covering any type of car and the opinion of any type of person. I neither implied, encouraged or stated anyone in particular in my post.

I love fast supras, and other 700-1000 horse power cars. But a 355 is more than horse power. More than "flawed handling" , over assisted power steering. I respect that you like the looks and sound, but like jerrari said, you just don't get it. Why is the f355 so sought after? so wanted? because it is the best ferrari for the price. For 70k - 80k you can own a ferrari that the average person would assume a price tag closer to 175,000+ Buying horse power for cheap is nothing to be proud of. a 30-50k vett may beat a 355 but so what. 380 horse gets the job done. it is 3-4 tenths of a second seconds slower than a 360 on the track. 183 mph is mean, six speed, looks, sound, the feel. A corvette owner hates to pull up next to a ferrari, almost embarrest at his attempted sports car dominenss, even if the vett may be faster. the 355 allows a person to experience a Ferrari with out spending crazy coin. Best car? a Ferrari. Best Ferrari for the price? 355. So in conclution, BEST CAR FOR THE MONEY: FERRARI 355 1998 - 99.

So what exactly IS the truth there genius? That the 355 is garbage? You are a troll who can't afford one anyway, face it. Tell ya what, let's get together and take that SWEET Lada of yours out on the track! I'll have to get a pressure suit to be able to handle the G's.
