    Hey guys,

Ive been interested in buying an Iphone for a while now, but the 3 year contract and high per month price just doesnt agree with me. But, ive been seeing these "iPhone clones/copies" for like $200 bucks on a local online website (like craigslist). So why not just buy one of these?

Only thing is I don't know how dependable they are, good overall product, will it die in two weeks kinda thing, etc etc.

So Im wondering , does anyone know of any reviews for these, or have experience with them ?

Heres the link to them on Usedvictoria.com

Thanks for the help guys! :)

i have a freind that bought one off ebay. it was cool but build quality was just not there. if your going to go for it get the real deal. the phone would turn off by itself he had the shim the battery with a piece of paper to keep it snug and working. you have to set up the phne for you carrier and don think your going to get 3g speed on the internet. it ends up being slower then what you have now.

bottom line dont do it. he ended up buyin a blackjack a month after he got one.

That's what I was worried about. I guess you do get what you pay for...

Probably just buy an unlocked one off craigslist for $500 and throw a SIM card in it.

    Thanks for the replies guys!

    It's $199 here too with a 3 year contract.

I do not recommend any of the iPhone clones. Most are cheap and will break within a month of regular use. The additional problems of not having a warranty (typically) or having to ship the product back to a shady manufacturer in Taiwan (unlikely, but probably) make them bad choices.

That said, the clone you linked appeared to be decent quality. I looked a little more into it and it seems that it's fairly accurate. However, buying the real deal is almost always the better option. If you have $200 to experiment with, you could buy the knockoff. But if you'd like to put the $200 into a more reliable option, the iPhone is a good choice.

My brother just got an iphone from Fido in the mail, brand new, still in its sealed box.

Shoot me an email if your interested & I can get more info; we're not too far away from the ferry terminal, live in Delta.

i bought one of those "Chi-Phones" for $100 on ebay. same one you linked and it lasted a month before it crapped out. Touch screen didn't work nearly as well as the i-phone. wouldn't recommend. they were cool awhile back when the i-phone just came out.

Well my brother decided to keep the iPhone. On the iPhone as I type. To be honest it's a cool phone /toy that you can waste time on. I've gotten frustrated with the soft keys as it's difficult to get my fingers to hit the right keys with no hard keys. It's also frustrating as it's not only difficult to type but difficult in browsing, as it's easy to hit links when scrolling the page. It's not a phone I see using everyday, I'll stick with the blackberry. This is the 3rd time I've tried posting due to hitting a key and changing the page and erasing what I've written, as well as having to edit the text xontasntly.

It's does have a very good sound and video qualty as well as a camera. Can't say much about the apps as he's only had it for a few days.

    My thoughts...

The iPhone is a novelty, and true to form, the novelty wears off after a while. How quickly? For me, it was 12 hours. I absolutely hated the iPhone so I got a Blackberry Curve and never looked back. Sure, you have all these fun apps on the iPhone, but you NEVER use them. The only thing the iPhone has going for it is the aesthetic.

Also, I don't understand why anyone gets these devices without a data plan. Use the phone how it's meant to be used!

I got a white iPhone 3G 16GB for my birthday in July. Personally since I'm younger, I think the iPhone suits me well. I don't think a busy business-man would be happy with it. My dad is a "business-man" however, and ditched his original iPhone for a Blackberry Curve. Personally I like it, but have a few complaints to consider before you purchase. We all have different preferences though..

    My Complaints

-Where is the "3G"? Doesn't feel faster.

-Constantly freezes up and bails out to the homescreen. Those ate my two biggest problems:freezing & bailing.

-Gets very warm, almost seems dangerous.

-I've had it since July. I have the white 16GB model, the plastic back-plate scratches too easy. Love the white, but should have stuck with a metal back-plate instead of plastic.

    Hope any of that helps,

    Chris
