Have had this trip planned for months. Rented a Skylane Turbo G1000 to fly from Dallas to Cibolo Creek Ranch out past Big Bend with Jennie and another couple. Very nice resort that's all inclusive for one price with a 6,000' private paved runway. http://www.cibolocreekranch.com/

    Day 1:

We left Dallas at 8am for the 410 nm trip and landed exactly 3 hours later at 11am. Within 1 minute a SUV met us to take us back to the ranch. The pics on the website are great, but in person everything is really over the top and beyond description. Today we fished a little, tested out the paddle boats, Ron did a little mountain biking, the chilli relleno lunch was great, chilled all afternoon hitting the beer fridge often, Cornish hen supper, and then hung out by the fire pit late.

    Day 2 – Morning:

Slept great last night, Jennie and I woke up in time to watch the sunrise by the pond. Had breakfast and then off to skeet shooting. After shooting Jennie and I wanted to get a little run in. We’re both in OK shape, but the trail we picked just got way too steep in places to run. We still ran more than half of the 2 miles up and ran the entire way down. Beats pounding flat city streets for 4 miles. When we arrived back they were ready for our ATV tour. This has been one of the highlights so far, we were able to tour a large area of the ranch and between the scenery and just zipping along these trails it was a blast. Good fajita lunch and then a nap.

    Day 2 – Afternoon:

Friday night we were driven over to one of the other ranches on other side of the property (about 12 miles) for BBQ and live music. The Hummers were cool with soft seats on top and cup holders! Perfect for a happy hour site seeing drive over. The route passed our plane, so checked up on it. Late night another fire pit.

    Day 3:

The resort staff was busy with the wedding, so we were mostly on our own which worked out great to explore. After breakfast we hiked up to same spot Jennie and I had ran previous day, but went further to check out the water fall and Indian ruins. Little short of a 2 hour hike and we returned just in time for lunch. Jennie, Stephanie, and I had massages after lunch and then I got on the internet for about 90 minutes for the only time the entire trip. We then hiked another direction to view Indian pictographs and cave which took 90 minutes and got us back for the others to happy hour and then supper about 7:30. The 3rd picture is an old landing strip on a ridge up above the resort. They said it hasn't been used for awhile, would love to take a Skywagon with tundra tires in there!

    Day 4:

Had breakfast, checked out, and then the resort manager drove us down to the plane. Fellow guests at the resort own a CJ2 and it landed as we were doing run-up as pilot had hopped over to College Station to see his daughter while the family enjoyed themselves. Stopped in Alpine for fuel and had 15 kt. headwind rest of way home, but a nice flight. Flying yourself to places for vacation makes a great trip overall because the getting there and coming back is fun too. We'll definitely go back, but at that price it will probably be a once a year thing.

That looks great. Even with the wedding & staff, did you have a sense of privacy for your group on your daily outtings or did they have to accompany you on certain activities?

They had someone with us for the skeet and ATV's. The ranch is wide open and they give you a map and say go have fun. So hiking, trail running, fishing, mountain biking, and etc. is on your own. Place is private because there are so many little hide outs inside and out. Time really just slows down.

That's not too bad. Liability I'm sure. The H1 looks hilarious though.

The whole trip looks like a lot of fun. I've only been to Dallas on business before but nice to see other parts of the state for that kind of recreation.

I had clients in Alpine so I used to make my annual "trip" to see them. A few nights at the Gage Hotel and few nights At Cibolo Creek. Its the best escape in TX

Very cool pics. I love the trans-Pecos region of Texas. I haven't been out there since 2005, but long to return to it.
