the guy is obviously out of it. wish he would just retire. it is inexcusable that he would just drive the car into a wall when under no pressure whatsoever. he is burned out and should quit so that ferrari could move on with a proper, motivated driver 'a la' kubica.....

I agree. I don't fully understand why they renewed his deal--yes, he's a past champ. But he's not showing much oomph this season. Who knows--maybe Ferrari has an out clause tied to his performance.

The guy is the defending champ, and you are writing him off for his career?

OK, I understand that his performance this year is not champioship-worthy, but look at the standings. Who do you want? Button? Baricello? Coulthard? Bourdais? Kaz Nak? Webber? Fisi?

Let us remember that Michael the great did not win all his titles in succession. There were some gaps in there--some bad cars, some bad teams, some bad pit crews.

Kimi can still drive. (Unless he gets hit in the rear in pit lane.)

I hear what you're saying .. but IMO if Ferrari don't win the Constructors Championship this year it will be because of Kimi .. OK .. and a few team hiccups along the way .. but fact is he made a bunch of amatuer mistakes that you simly don't expect from the defending WDC. I met him several times over the last week & he certainly acted like someone who didn't want to be there. As for possible replacements .. maybe Ferrari can find their own Lewis out there.

Is it just me or has Felipe and Kimi kinda switched places, Felipe was always the one that made the mistakes therefore only doing OK in the championship, and Kimi was the one that got everything spot on and seemed unstopable, now it's the other way around. But i still think he shouldn't be sacked after all he is world champion and knowing Kimi there will be more to come plus everything changes next year with the cars, so i think we should just see how he performs next year.

I read somewhere that Kimi's wife left him??!!! Is that true?
Anyway--no excuses for him--and let's face it--last year he got a little lucky. I don't know what Luca is thinking??? I still blame him for kicking Schumi out ...:(

Did you guys watch the race? Kimi was reeling in Hamilton, he and Massa were trading fast laps when Nelson hit the wall. I am sorry, but this race hit the toilet as soon as Massa hit the pit, and there is no one to blame but the higher ups. I don't know who's idea those stupid lights were, but they suck, and the pit lane work has been a continued debacle. It's not just this race, but there have been numerous idiotic decisions, whether tire choice or simple screw ups or equipment failures that should never have happened. It's embarrassing, an it is a wonder no one has been killed. Ross Brawn's loss has been more important than the loss of MS. The drivers are good, it's the team that is letting them down.

It's a wonder both Massa and Kimi didn't come back into the pits swinging tire irons.

Actually, Michael did win all his Ferrari titles in succession. 1996-99 were the developmental years, 2000-2004 were his championship years, and '05-'06 were Alonso's. And the reason Michael won 5 straight was because of his consistency. Just about any of the drivers on the grid right now could win the title given the best car and perfect environment, luck, etc. That's why 1-time winners aren't always lauded so heavily. But it's the ability of a driver to perform when the chips are down, so to speak, that determine their worth. So while Kimi was able to take the title last year, how many other drivers would have been capable of doing the same in his seat? The way I feel, winning last year's title doesn't tell us what kind of driver Kimi is, but rather the way he's driving this year is a much more accurate indicator.

Kimi is a very fast driver (I think he has 11 out of the 12 fast laps for Ferrari). He said he can't get the tires working...and I believe him. When he gets the car working the way he likes, he's the fastest man on the grid by far. The problem is he can't get them working quickly.

However, IMO, a driver at his level needs to be able to overcome these obstacles either through their driving or through their interaction with the team. How many nights and weekends has Kimi put in to solve this problem with the team? Or does he just say "no, it's still not what I want" and walk away to let them work on it?

Kimi's stock is waaay down this year. He seriously needs to address these problems, or he risks being labeled a one-hit wonder and a has-been who was lucky to win a WDC. I think he can do it, as does Luca... but he needs to change his attitude. If he has a bad year next year, the best thing for Ferrari would be to just cut him loose, because while he may be super quick, he can't just keep blaming the tires or the car.

I think Kimi can bounce back though. If he gets the car working the way he likes, there's only 1 or 2 guys on the whole grid who could even hope to challenge him if they were in an equal car.

Kimi didn't win the championship last year. It was gifted to him by McLaren or more specifically by Hami. He was damn near a lame duck champion. He sucks right now and the whole team is inundated with glaring mistakes.

Why don´t you put good drivers like Alonso or Vettel?

Vettel could be a future Pilota for the Scuderia....and there are a lot of rumors on Alonso having a pre contract aggreement...

well, the whole team needs an overhaul. the reason, if ever Lewis becomes a WDC this year, is because Ferrari's mistakes gifted him the title.

the point is, and several guys have said this, Kimi doesnt want to be there....you see it in his driving and you see it in his body language. Schuey never acted liked that. and thats not the point either. the point is: Kimi could care less about driving a car around and around in circles at this point of his life.
and btw, Kubica is the fastest , and hungriest, driver in f1.....ferrari should snatch him up.......

Just like McLaren's mistakes gifted Kimi the title last year? Rarely is there ever a title that is won without somoene else making a mistake. MS in 02/04, and then the McLaren in 88, but still it was down to who made more mistakes between Prost and Senna.

The Championship is deserved by whomever has the most points at the end of the season, not who wins the most races. If Lewis wins the title it was because him, and McLaren, were the most consistent and were able to benefit from that.

Well yes I can tend to agree, but you can't have it both ways Brian...;)

Believe me IMO, as you probably know my feelings about SPA, its evened things up, and Lewis would not be gifted a WDC.

Thats of course IF he wins..;)

The issue suggested that Kimi was the worst driver, so why not pick the obvious drivers who are "worse."

I have a friend who is Kimi's Physiotherapist. Marc Arnall. I have not talked to him in a long time, but I will call to see if Kimi's wife left him.
