the shop finished my 308 today. i am going to list the factory Ansa on ferrariads if anyone needs a cheap used one. mine was in great shape ( not rusty), but it does have a baffle loose inside of it that rattles. i put a Magnaflow on my black 77 carb GTB, and it sounded great. i did not need much of a reason to put one on the QV.

the car sounds great, and i swear it revs better.

they did warn me i do need to buy the proper exhaust donuts, as the ones they had on hand did not fit perfectly.

if anyone knows the dimensions / part numbers for the exhaust donuts at the muffler flanges please post them. i will look in the cross ref thread later.

    lots of pics for ya:

first pic is the Ansa muffler:

ps: notice how a factory muffler can be bolted right back in place. they did not modify any of the factory hangars or body structure.

hi, it was a local shop, and there are no other 308 owners in my area. parts were $267.00, labor was $103.00. they do hot rods and race cars, and loved having the 308 there for a day. the muffler and tips are made by Magnaflow, and are stainless steel.

i refuse to pay the ridiculous amounts the tubi and the others cost, so i have no clue. my car sounds amazing, and it did not break the bank like a tubi or capritso

ps i posted my Ansa in ferrari ads if anybody wants to stay original.

as far as part numbers go, i think its the same ones used on the trans ams, camaros and so on. he took measurements and then ordered the parts, my receipts dont have part numbers on them. i think any magnaflow muffler with similar pipe diameters would work. i opted for the more expensive polished muffler, as my euro GTb does not have the diaper that the American spec cars have.

any good shop that fabs exhaust systems for drag cars or dirt track can do stuff like this. there were alot of questions and positive remarks on the car, and its just an old 308.

I've been looking at your old post over and over after not being able to make a decision on which $2k-$3k muffler to get. I may have to get the shop info and just drive up there and let 'em have a crack at it as i'm two hours away. If i don't like it so what it's only $400 and some gas.

Is it really loud? Does it still sound Ferrari like or does the magnaflow give it a NASCAR or muscle car sound?

    Looks really good BTW.

    Hi Michael,

The Magnaflow is a pretty muffler. It looks like the flowmaster that is commonly installed aft of the axle on camarows & fireturds, actually, a fine muffler - twin 2.5 inlets and outlets.

Sound is a hard thing to compare or relate without having two systems side by side - for sure the flowmaster was light years ahead of the thermal reactor.

The flowmaster, with twin resonator tips is actually a bit to loud for long trips with my wife. She wears ear plugs, I, being a 60 year old fat phugger, with bad hearing, think it sounds great.

Looking forward to hearing your set up some day.

    best,
    chris

i think the mufflers are available in chamber number, as i know from my muscle car days a Flowmaster muffler with less chambers was louder than one with more chambers. i am assuming MAGNAFLOW is the same way.

i asked them to order one " in the middle" its NOT loud like a glass pack, and it has a nice throaty purr at idle. above 3500 rpm, and it sings to you, but its not annoying, nor is there any " booming " going down the road. i basically told them i wanted a good quality polished stainless muffler that was not too loud, but would sound " right" on an old Ferrari.

i have been very pleased with Magnaflow.

Sound clip of twin magnaflows on a Mondial:

    3. black ceramic coated and installed.

I agree with everyone else - you can do as good or better job for a lot less money assembling your own exhaust. Just a little study and comparison, then pick the sound you like. LOTS of threads to see by searching on individual words: Magnaflow, Flowmaster, Dynomax

    best to all

Hi Michael, the replacement muffler with the different tips looks great. I would like to replace my American apron with a Euro rear lower valence.
    Great job.
