(from autosport) IndyCar Series frontrunners Andretti Green Racing will run the A1GP US franchise in the 2008/09 season, the team announced on Thursday. AGR will run the car from this weekend's opening round at Zandvoort, where team co-owner Michael Andretti is expected to announce his driver line-up for the season. "We are very proud to be representing the United States on the level and competitive playing field that is provided by A1GP," said Andretti. "Andretti Green has been fortunate to enjoy a reasonable amount of success in just six seasons of operation and we're looking forward to joining the world stage of A1GP. Andretti Green Racing, owned by Andretti, Kim Green and Kevin Savoree, have won three IndyCar Series titles, taken two Indianapolis 500 victories and scored their first overall American Le Mans Series (ALMS) victory at Detroit earlier this year for Acura.
So they bought the franchise so Marco can prove he's F1 quality. I guess we'll see how that goes. Mark
I think that's pretty cool. May work out for Marco, but it also looks like Michael is gradually becoming a big-time team owner, growing the empire ala Penske.
