Carbon Fiber front plates

Can anyone tell me where I can buy Carbon fiber plates to put on the bottom of my front end of my 360 Spider. Do you have to have them put on at a Ferrari Dealership or can you do it yourself? Not sure if I am asking for the right things?
I just got my car in August and what a gas. Wish I had got it years ago.

 

ebay has a ton of people selling them do a search on ebay and a computer search if you can't find them on ebay. You can get them with pretty much any car company logo on them or without.

 

Are you referring to skid plates? If so, they're not carbon fiber but a plastic resin. You can purchase these from Dave at Premier Motorsport, Tel;310-559-1562. Predicated on your technical ability, (a jack or lift would be more then helpful) yes, you can install them.

 

I think I asked for the wrong thing. I wanted the protection skid plates that go under the front end of the car so the the bottom of the car doesn't hit bottom when you go over a curb. Sorry I wasn't clear on this.

Ferrari of Beverly Hills will be offering carbon fiber skid plates soon.

 

A carbon fiber skid plate? That seems quite unique. I thought (and absolutely.. please correct me if I'm wrong) that when CF scrapes or cracks, the pieces are razor-like in their sharpness. By design, the plates will get scuffed/scratched. So it seems like the rear wheels of the car would then be driving directly over the razor-like remnants.

Did I miss something here?

I don't think you did.
The first decent impact, the damn things would shatter and leave a hell of a mess and the real possibility of a puncture.
We have experimented with a number of materials and have found the aluminum with the neoprene backing to be the best solution.
We have posted this picure before, but it really shows the effectiveness of our skid plates.
Notice there isn't a mark anywhere else.
The owner said, and I quote: "That was the first time in 12 months I had looked under the car"
If you are really fussy, give them a daub of black paint every now and then.

I too would have to agree that a carbon fiber skid plate is entirely the wrong material for the application. CF posseses none of the strength properties needed to act as an effective skid plate. Something made of metal, aluminum, or nylon is entirely more suited to the application. If it were my car I would go with black nylon as it has grest abrasion resistance and is the same colour throughout. That way when there is a scrape you will not see it. Save your money for other CF bits.

To install the clear film on the paint areas is the 3M material the best. I have heard that some types of film discolors over time. Is this true. I have also heard that it isn't worth having it put on my car.

 

Do an advanced search on paint protection film. There are pages of threads on this subject.
