There will be several groups and classes from open wheels, spec miatas, to our class of Ferraris, Vettes, and Porsches. Of special interest to this community there will be 3 Ferrari Challenge 355's racing in Super Touring 2.

Mark McKenzie - 6th of 31 Overall and top rookie in the 2008 North America Ferrari 430 Challenge series
Colin Cohen - Grand Am Koni Challenge pro
Rob Lay - nobody, expect one time FCA DFW go kart champion :D

Some other users on here that will be racing are Rob Cohen in his GTS 3 Porsche and Keith Verges in Spec Miata. Any others?

Come watch the racing or for those wanting to run the track in your street car there are Driver Education groups. Those are called HPDE in the registration.

    Let me know if questions.

    Hey Rob,
I'm looking forward to the weekend. I'll be there Friday afternoon, and all day Saturday, but not Sunday.
Have you seen the weather forecast? Meteorologically it is a ways off, but it looks like it may rain. Are you bringing rain tires?
I don't even have any treaded tires, but I might get some, if most of you guys will run in the wet?

    See you then,

    Mark

I have some Pirelli rains, but I think they're 5+ years old and I've never used them before. I would give them a try though, I like running in the rain, after all the carnage at TWS I would be even that more carful though. I love Hoosier rains, but that isn't in the budget yet.

Usually not, just sign a waiver. If there is, it would be small.

I'll have the hi-def tv running in the trailer to watch football during downtime, so that is not an excuse for anyone.

If it does rain I am going to have a very interesting set-up. I have some treaded street tires mounted on 16" rims that I ran one time on my car long before it became the beast it is today. It will be pretty funny to see 205/225 tires under my turbo flares. Next year I'll make the investment in proper rain tires as I have a set of 18" rims waiting for them. The budget gets thin by the last event of the year, I won't even be running fresh dry tires for this one.

Will - I could use a radio man if you are interested.

This is the absolute last local race by any sanctioning body I know of in Texas for 2008, so come if you have any interest at all or you will have to wait until March 2009

It was a nice 1 hour run to Eagles Canyon, with an orange beast prodding me along the whole way. The racers were suiting up, and Will was ably assisting. Nice grouping of different cars, and up top you get a decent vantage point of the track.
Look forward to getting on it sometime soon. Here are some pics from the pits.

Our 2 Robs, Lay and Cohen, had a spirited battle as they got started, but horsepower prevailed
for the Ferrari. Some nice sound from the 3 -355's out on the track.

A long good weekend, I always like the challenge of learning a new track. I’m liking our race group of Ferraris, Vettes, Porsche, BMW’s and other higher HP sports cars. As expected Mark was very sharp, years ago we use to be about even, but Mark has taken his driving to the next level through the 430 Challenge Series while also doing a few little things to the car. Colin is down on power right now that Norwoods will soon fix, but Colin continued to close the gap through the weekend. Enjoyed Nicola running in the DE and Will out to crew. Other visitors were Phil, Mark in the Murci, Rich in his 360, Stew from Boardwalk, and a few others sorry if I missed you. Also big thanks to James at Norwoods who supplied me a 355 water cap late at night Saturday! Below are qualifying and race results, I have decent video from the Saturday races I will post within a few weeks.

    Hey Rob,
It was good to see all of you guys.
I'll make a point of choosing some 2009 NASA dates that I can commit to, so we can try to get together again.
I really enjoyed running the 355, but if there's a gap in Challenge, maybe I'll try to bring the 430 so as to keep up with those pesky GT3Cups!

    See you soon,

    Mark

Great weekend and lots of fun seeing everyone out there. Some great photos here, thanks for posting. I particularly like how much faster I look than Rob as we apex the same corner. :) Of course the lap times don't lie, I certainly did not have the pace to stay with him.

Rob did not post the full GTS standings but I took two 2nd Place finishes on Saturday and two 3rd place finishes on Sunday. My Sunday could have been a bit better but in the first race I was following a car that was spilling fuel out the rear and I spun when I drove through his mess in a high G corner (corner #10), losing a position and hurting my grid spot in the next race.

Colin picked up 2 seconds off his previous pace in the last race, which was awesome to see. I'm looking forward to seeing that car up to full speed once power is restored.

Mark was blindingly fast. I wish I had a chance to follow him for a few corners so I could watch. We'll certainly have to do a Harris Hill weekend this winter.

I did not see the Miata results. Keith - how did you do?

I was out there too with my lowly Spec Miata, and while the turn out of only 20 cars was low for Miatas, it was just about right especially when figuring out a new track. The track is definitely interesting and technical with good elevation changes but pretty bumpy surface and lots of rocks - so offing can be painful. Again the Spec Miata group showed more brawls than brain by going three wide in turn 1 which ended up tire smokes and spinning cars... Good show - still glad those are Mazdas not a Ferraris!
