Who the hell writes these sentences? It's not like the guy's going to make it through the first 100 years.

It's not like it was one burglary. Several burglaries. Two armed robberies.
Yeah it sounds ridiculous considering how so many others get off pretty easily but I can't say I feel sorry for the guy.
He's already shown that he's worthless as a human being and would continue his habit of crime if out of jail.

Hope he enjoys his time. Fool.

Not sure how it works but I think that he serves the sentences concurrently ie all at once so his longest sentence is 40 years and he will probably be elligible for parole after 34 years plus some time off for good behaviour. He was sentenced prior to this for similar chargesb, IMO a menace to society, throw away the key.

I have no problem with it either if they would even it out, at this rate murder would be around 500 years?, and I have no problem with it being that way.

I wondered if they would run concurrent as well, but the article says consecutively, and "Linder will be required to serve 85 percent of his sentence for the three first-degree burglary and two armed robbery charges before he is eligible for release."

I'm sure he was sentenced the way he was so he would not be eligible for parole for 30+ years. It works on some percentage of time served, no? (not a felon or plan to be so I don't know about parole/sentencing)

Totally right! Four burglaries and two armed robberies! And those are those one he got CAUGHT doing. What about all the ones he did not get caught doing? I'm sure it's not his first rodeo. He's a piece of garbage. He was running around sticking a gun in people's faces. It's only a matter of time till he shot someone. Good riddance. All that before the ripe age of 20. He would be a murderer before he hit 25.

Not a loss to society by any means.

But do you think he deserves to spend the majority of his life in prison ?

    Im torn...

I hate seeing someone so young lose their freedom. However he made his bed and its SO rare that a tiger changes its stripes.

His parents should probably go to prison with him.

No, I think 10-15 years should be enough for someone that young.

Now Im going to derail the thread but Im interested in if you think someone can successfully reintroduce themselves back into society after spending that much time in prison A) at such a young age and B) with most likely limited to no family support ?

I think the odds are slim to none and we will just have another criminal running the streets when he gets out.

I think you either have to limit it to 2 years which I feel people can survive without being 'broken' or just keep them until they are too old to be a danger.

Shoulda learned from OJ. You can shred your wife and walk. But don't mess with robbery! I'd say the sentence is a bit excessive.

    Laughs on them.

His productive crime years will fall off the cliff at about age 45 at which time his healthcare needs will be an ever increasing burden to the system.

Kind of a pension of sorts.

True story. 6 Billion people work to get "stuff". If you get rid of 1 of the 6 Billion people, that means there are less people trying to get "stuff" meaning there's more to go around. If you steal "stuff", then nearly 6 Billion people will be mad at you as there is less "stuff" out there for them.
