Anybody see the movie "The Happening?" I was going to rent it tomorrow for the weekend. I was just wondering if it was worth watching...

Its typical M Knight Shyamalan (sp). Unnecessary twists. Not bad but you feel like you've seen it before. Marky mark is terrible and wooden.

Its on par with Signs and Lady in the Water

Still worth a watch I guess

Marky Marks only good movie was what, Planet of the Apes? He looked wooden in that one too. I guess I'll see it though. Thanks.

He's 'alright' in real life type situations. But hes terrible in the fantasy type films. i dont think he has an imagination.

I like Mark (The Big Hit), but he was horrible in this movie. Overall I would give the movie a C. I will not spoil it, but I was not a fan of the plot twist at all. Now, my friend liked it and gave it a B/B+. So you may or may not like it.

-Off topic, if you want a good movie, rent Felon. It just came out. I thought it was one of the best movies I've seen in awhile FWIW.

I suppose you are talking about the recent MKS film; when I saw this I thought, "Cool, someone else knows the 60's comedy movie w/ Anthony Quinn as a gangster boss who gets kidnapped by a bunch of stoner hippies".
Led to the only Supremes song I ever really liked - the theme song "The Happening"

Anybody but me remember these old films? Napolis? Anyone?

I walked from the theater after about 30 minutes of the film, and demanded a refund from the management.

And want that half hour of my life back.

    Warning: Spoiler Alert!!!!

Pretty much true. It had a lot of potential too! I thought the underlying plot was pretty novel. But they ruin it by telling you what is happening pretty early on and further ruin it by adding some creepy characters with no explanation at all.

Better would have been for the guy with the green house to have been loved by the plants and his "good plants" to have helped save the main cast.

I got that one, thought it was pretty good. Could have been better, but I enjoyed it.

I'll still rent it, but I really wonder what's going on with MNS's career. Seems to me that his movies are steadily and consistently getting worse and worse. I liked Signs but hasn't it basically been downhill since The Sixth Sense?

I actually liked Unbreakable. Well, the second time I saw it. Signs was a failure in my book. After playing a zaney cop, Mel Gibson cannot be cast as a dumb farmer.

Finally saw it - like Lady in the Water and The Village, this starts out interestingly enough and then quickly sinks like a stone.

MNS should do some serious pondering before he makes his next film. I think he is committing career suicide.

Don't waste your time. The movie flat out SUCKS. A group of us walked out, and walked into Iron Man. We sat through and hour of that lame movie The Happening, before we realized nothing was happening, except wasting an hour of our lives.

I think it's ok as a rental. Just saw it a few days ago. If you're interested in seeing quite a few people commit suicide, then it's the right movie to watch.
I like end-of-the-world movies, but there's better one's out there.

OT: Another movie he just made (Max Payne) on the other hand is a catastrophe!!
I played the game back when it came out and the story had potential - what a waste.

+1, I hated Max Payne. I never played the game but it looked good in the previews. I was falling asleep at some parts, complete disappointment.
