I have been looking at a car in San Diego and wanted to arrange a PPI but I was told by FM San Diego that they no longer do PPIs. I then asked if anyone around does them but they said most shops have quit due to Liability Issues. Puts a real bummer on the whole issue because this car is only around for this week. Any ideas on where to take a car for a PPI in the San Diego area? I am from NYC so I am new to this process.

Liability issues is a concern, but I'm surprised they wont PPI a car they're selling. Normally you can use that as leverage if/when something goes wrong.

Yea, he'll do it. The other alternative is ask FoSD to give it the once over for an hour's labor or free. I'd be surprised if they didn't comply as any service they'd be able to pick up. It'd more or less be a verbal yea, or nay. I'd think they'd at least do that.

The whole point is to get documentation, I would suspect.

But if one is first looking for a "go/no go" on a car possible purchase, a verbal report should do it.

I used Cavallo Motorsports in Carlsbad, met them at the Coronado races the year before, Chris is the tech/owner. Did a great job.

    Keith,

No problem! We'll get the next one....

I (was) Cavallo's lead tech. and the only Ferrari factory certified
tech. in the house. I departed about 6 mos. ago....

Now I'm doing my own thing in the neighborhood. I guess that makes me the "new/old guy in town"....

Remember, it's in your best interest to always check your technicians F-experience and F-credentials...

Not sure if I can revive a thread this old. Was just looking for PPI in San Diego and called F of SD and they will do a used car inspection for $420 and full safety inspection for a $650. Are there any independent shops out there that people have recent experience with?
