This is not my photo.I want to know the owner of the photo and the car? And what Maserati is it? Best regards, Magnus Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hmm .. the front sure looks like a Mistral ... I would guess either a prototype or a rebodied one - anyway - I like it more than the Mistral The rear looks more "Pininfarina" than Frua. EDIT: On the Maserati-alfieri website it is referenced as Mexico prototype .... I guess we'll have to wait for Walter
It was a special Maserati named "Mexico" ,built in 1965, and bodied by Frua. A sort of 4 seater Mistral . Chassis number was AM 101/S*10.004* and was commissioned by Auto-König (the German dealer) for one of their clients, Mr. Rupertzhoven. Built on the same tubular chassis of the 3500GT , this one off was fitted with the same six cylinders 3.7-litre Lucas fuel injected engine of the Mistral. Painted in Oro Longchamps with a black leather interior , the dashboard was the same of the Quattroporte. Ciao Andrea
Thank you Andrea for the information. Interesting car, but it looks like the ride height is off somehow.
Isn't S in the chassis number sebring? No 3500gt in 1965 or? Thank you Andymont for the information. I asked my friends in the swedish Maseraticlub but they didn't know what it was. What colour is Oro Longchamp? Med vänliga hälsningar ( with best regards ) Magnus
It was a Sebring chassis . In 1965 only one prototype (2nd and last) of 3500GTI (AM108) was built. AM108 was a 3700 cc. engined model built by Touring on 3500 long wheelbase chassis, but was'nt approved . Oro Longchamp means Longchamp Gold. Ciao Andrea
Correct! The car is still located in Germany and currently for sale. I have a very complete fila about the car on my desk. Ciao! Walter
I just saw this one again last weekend a Frua Mexico from 1968 CHASSIS No AM112.F588 It was sold at the same RM auction as my Ghibli Open Cup. It's very pretty. Bob S. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
First owner of the car was the ex-Factory driver Franco Rol, who raced a Tipo 4CLT in the late 40ies. F588 was made on his special request. The car is very original, although it doesn`t have the original color. Ciao! Walter
The front bumper doesn't fit correctly either and will have to be redone. I wish there were more pictures of it. It really is nice. The rear hatch style glass window is a story unto itself. It's an impressive piece for that era. Bob S.
My 1968 4.0 liter Mistral spyder's first owner was also ex-Factory driver Franco Rol. Looks like he bought the Mexico and Mistral at the same time. Does anyone have information about him? Ivan
