    Anyone have any recommendations for quaint B&B's or inns in the Napa region that are reasonably priced, preferably less than $350/night. Am off to Napa next weekend and well behind the curve with hotel reservations. All I do know is I was blessed with reservations at the french laundry, hence this last minute scramble. Thanks in advance!

    When I think of Napa what I really want is a place in Calistoga or my favorite town Yountville. It's not a B&B but I like Villagio in Yountville, your in the middle of the vines and some of the greatest restaurants in the valley.

    Villagio looks wonderful but rooms start above my budget, considering I'll be financially drained by the end of dinner... Any other suggestions in Yountville or Calistoga?

    Until this year while attending the "Quail", Concorso Italiano or Pebble Beach my wife and I stayed at The Crystal Terrace Inn B&B in Carmel. The rooms were quite nice, quaint and most of them included a kitchenette and fireplace and of course breakfast and an evening happy hour. Their website is http://www.crystalterraceinn.com.

    We've stayed here before. Nice and basic B&B if not stellar. Ask for a room at the end of hall if possible. You can hear people walking up and down the hall.

    Personally we usually trek out to the coast to stay at the Timber Cove Inn. Very rustic and funky. Service a bit on the sleepy side. Food surprisingly good given the location (middle of nowhere). Fantastic roads getting to and from! To be honest, that is the primary reason we go there. ;)

    After hunting for a place for almost 20 years, we've settled on Sunny Acres B&B: http://www.sunnyacresbandb.com/ It's nothing fancy, but a simple 3 room B&B on the Salvestrin Winery Property in St. Helena: http://www.salvestrinwinery.com/

    Enjoy with French Laundry.....we'll certainly return, but we also have an apology letter from Thomas Keller from our last visit!!!

    Of course we had infinitely high expectations, which were met in many ways, but one their signature dishes (butter poached lobster) was so awful that it should have been returned to the kitchen. If we had sent it back, we probably would have been banned from all top restaurants in the world. ;) The service was excellent and low key, most of the courses were truly brilliant, one adequate, one horrible.

    A little late . . . but, Vintage Inn = 1 minute walk, Yountville Inn = 10 minute (through town) walk & Napa Valley Lodge is 3 minutes walking distance of The French Laundry. Being in Napa is fantastic, dining at The French Laundry is over the top, stumbling into your room just minutes after dining at The French Laundry = PRICELESS ;) http://yountville.com/page.php?url=n...accommodations

    What a wonderful trip! Now that I'm back and settled, thought I'd follow up with a quick debrief (thanks for the reminder Lucca). As it turned out, with less than a week to figure out where to stay, actually finding a place with availability proved to be the issue. After several calls, managed to find a room at Lavender that I and the girlfriend stayed at, and put the parents up at the Harvest Inn - thought it would be a nice little getaway for them. What a pleasant surprise Lavender turned out to be, especially at a $200 price point. We had our own cottage with fireplace, patio, more than enough space and a decent breakfast to top things off. And the best part, as noted in an earlier thread, is that we were able to walk to the French Laundry and stumble home after.

    Dinner at the Laundry was the best meal of my life, replacing my last meal at the Laundry as the best meal I had had. As it so happens, the girlfriend worked with Thomas Keller at Per Se in NYC so we received VIP treatment - started off with a complementary bottle of Billecart Salmon rose champagne, a couple extra courses including my personal favorite dessert, coffee & doughnuts, and some special chocolates beyond the standard at the end. After 5 hours and somewhere around 13 courses, we were thankful we were staying a couple blocks away.

    Thanks everyone for the input! Hopefully I'll have a bit more time to book the next time I'm out there.
