hi Olivier nice pics, cannot wait for you to post all other 990 p.s. my friend's GT is really cool: my favourite lambo from the audi era by a wide margin
with very appropriate Monaco plates is it me or this car looks lowered? Image Unavailable, Please Login
Emilio: This special SV used to live with Barry Brown in Malibu in the USA, and is production number 691, chassis number 4978, engine number 30672, finished on December the 14th 1971 and supplied to Alfredo Pedretti's Modena Racing Car Co, New York NY. One of 13 second-series USA-spec SVs. It was imported to Monaco by Yves S circa 1991. He had the bodywork modified to Euro spec and re-painted it circa 1992. It was present at the 3rd "Lamborghini Days" event held on 25th & 26th September 1993, and the owner ran it successfully in the 1996 Tour Auto (France). Since then, it has performed noble duty by wowing residents and visitors to the old city of Monte Carlo...The car now exists in a typical lime green, but originally it was a one-off "Verde Uccello Di Mare" (PPG paint code # 246-5-902) with rare "Testa Di Moro" (dark brown) interior. The original paint color was a bright forest green color special-ordered for its first USA owner, and never used on any other Miura SV. The car sits as many SV's do because the springs settle slightly after all that time. I know at least one owner who has a distinct preference for this ;-)
Thanks Joe for the explanation & summary report about Yves's SV, his 3rd Miura. Yes it's true he doesn't drive it so often as we was doing before, his car was also featured in "AUTO COLLECTION" magazine in 1998, that's also the reason why he had a problem with the fuel pump, that was replaced 3 times during the event. The speudo mechanic was trying to fit a pump that wasn't the correct one...as you may notice the hand working on the fuel pump (top of picture). Italian guys are always trying to bargain with Fiat parts instead of Lambo OEM...but for high Lambo price ! Now, Yves focuses more on the F1 Historic Championship, as you may know he owns Emotion Automobiles in MC. Ciao BTW, Joe can you finally forward me the requested infos about the 2 Jarama you listed on your website ??? On a PM or directly to my Email it will be great ! Image Unavailable, Please Login
Ferry 400: Yves is a true enthusiast, and through a mutual friend, I am aware of his various endeavors. Im not even sure the fuel pump was the problem at all, but thats another story... On the other subject, the pair of Jaramas that appeared on my website for a brief period were Private Treaty cars whose owner changed his mind, and then subsequently asked me not to release any information. Strange, yes, but I'm sure you understand...
I was wondering the same thing. My personal dealings with a select few Italians has been nothing short of positively rewarding.
My experience with the fuel pumps used on Miuras is that the quality is questionable (I've replaced 3 in short order before) and that they are the same as the ones used by Fiat, Alfa and Ferrari.
Does not seem strange to me; the market went to crap. The exact same thing that happened to the housing market will also probably happen with cars: it will take people some time to realize that they can no longer get what they could 6 months ago. I don't think it will take as long with cars, however, as it too with housing. In fact, I hear from a few places that nothing is selling at the moment (since about Monterey). Alberto
Well, it means some italian mechanics (fortunately not all of them) pretend to be skill about Lambo stuff. As the one that was imposed by the 45°LamboParty organisator...trying to manage the SV fuel pump without success untill he got finally on sunday the correct Lambo reference. But he charged the 1st pump at the Lambo price for a standard FIAT pump...first price for 280 euro...then after negociation 180 euro...in fact the pump worthes 80 euro !!!! Or another story, I had a problem with my clutch pedal, distance release, another man came to me at Dosso - Tonino's Museum, that guy presented himself as "The" mechanic of Fabio L. He offered me to fix that problem since I've explained him that the clutch was replaced just before leaving Belgium ! We spent 2 hours at his local workshop sunday evening, when I got back my car, it was worst than before...Lambo skill...at 100 euro of labor...for nothing ! Beside that, yes there are wonderful guys as Oracio Salvioli from Top Motors at Nonantola...in a couple of minutes he noticed immediately what was wrong and fixed it ! So, yes I'm confirming my comments, about the 1st guy I have also 2 very bad story that happened at the event regarding an Espada and Countach 400S. But that's enough, isn'it.
Olivier, your sentence was quite a statement with "Italian guys are ALWAYS trying ..." i know it was not your intent but generalizing is not correct i did not really follow the fuel pump thing so i will not make comments on this thing (i like to comment on things i have knowledge about and stick to them) agree on Orazio: great guy who is the first guy you are talking about? please share the bad story on the espada and about the countach S: mine was the only countach S at the event and i can tell you my car runs very well as it did that day.....
tks for infos Joe i thiught about it being a US car, from some details a BIG PITY the one off livery was lost in favour of the "resale" grenn LOL agree: car looks better lower to the ground
Emilio, I don't want you to organize a lynching at Sant' Agata place...so I will keep mechanic's name secret ! Espada got engine rebuilt by that guy before the event. Owner had several misfire problems & ignition troubles and finally I tested his car confirming that it was no more possible to rev over 4.000 rpm...what a pity and what a misery to finish the event in a Fiat instead of his own Lambo, just because job is not done correctly. About Countach...gearbox was rebuilt prior to event...owner went for a test drive before collecting his car for the event, and gears blocked...with a strange noise...leaving the Countach beside the road !!! So, my previous own skill as The Owner of a FIA Racing Team & well know Porsche Tuner company in Europe (sold since 2005), was prior to delivery => always doubble check the "item" to be deliver before the customer shows off in order to avoid any confusing situation or any dissapointing statment !!! What I always did in order to grow up my solide reputation from 2000 up to 2005. I hope you understand what I mean this time. Picture of our 1st Winning race in FIA category, 6th overall...my customers were delighting. Image Unavailable, Please Login
hi Olivier i know the guy well from my personal experience i can tell only good things about worcks he had performed on my 400S to be honest my car never ran so good as after he worcked on it! i have to say though i simply ask to do all it is needed and i had never put a budget on the worcks i will ask him about the espada and the other S i am sure there are 2 sides of this story... and , of course, congrats to you for your racing team and tuning company
about his worcks: i forgot to tell my friend's diablo GT, 25th white CT and 06 Gs were all mantained by him (with the "do what it needs" rule) and all performed great
Good for you and your friends that he performs sometime as it should be. But also understand the deep disappointment of these Lambo fellows, spending money to have their toys fixed by a "professionnal" in order to attempt the 45° event without any problem inside their car (not beside). I do share their legitimate furious comments, that's what I was pointing out. Now if you want to inquire to know ore about the "dark side of the moon"... As I was owning a F456 GT (close to new), my last Ferrari, that was in 2006. It got out of service in the afternoon, then I picked up my wife for a WE at Paris and we never arrived...F456 GT went back to Brussels on a trailer, "they" forgot the radiator cap...truly nice experience. Before trusting someone to take care of your baby, inquire a lot before...
