What year/model Diablo to buy?

Hi Rodney,

I bought stickers from you years ago. That's my yellow Diablo on Ebay, and don't let the price fool you, that's a $110K car at a dealer, but it's just a bad market right now. There are a ton of threads about Diablos on this board, I for one prefer the early 2WD because of its simplicity, iconic looks, and no added features that may give you headaches. The 2Wd is also lighter and faster, as if the Diablo needed to be any faster, but that's one of the advantages.
It's a buyer's market right now, so don't wait too long, as the Diablo will inevitably follow in the Countach's rising values, and there are not that many in the US, so good luck with your search.

Latest Orange 6.0 would be my choice.....

 

I don't know anything about the car in ebay from a mechanical standpoint but I did see it this week and it was beautiful...the exhaust was crooked as all get out but it waas clean otherwise

 

I have a 2001 6.0 in silver, no wing, 14K miles, one owner..black interior mint comdition in bound...call if you have any intrest

i do own an early countach to (different cars for different taste, the countach is MUCH harder to drive !)

I would buy a 91/92 Diablo 2wd. Make sure the chain tensioner has been updated. Check the condition of the clutch. Save $$$, and buy the more enthusiast focused early Diablo. The 91/92 cars, are almost the lightest and fastest 2wd cars of the series. The 91/92 cars, are also amongst the best bang for your buck, in any genuine 200mph Italian supercar - they represent a superb value.

 

i agree on everything you said

91-92 are a bargain, but have somewhat a bad rep. for some "first model" issues (chains, brakes, ecc...) so i would not aspect they will ever be so sought after in the near future
they are fully depreciated though and i do not think they can go much lower than this (at 80k$ or 65k euro, for a good one)

i have to say if he wants something "easier" to live with and less effort to drive he really needs a model from the VT onwards: light clutch and steering makes them almost as easy as the new generation stuff (but at least have the 3 pedals and some "caracter", correct Ralf? LOL )
the roadster is a cool plus if he lives in a sunny place

The early 2WD is the best money spent, period. The 6.0's are almost twice that and they are not twice the car.

 

Could not agree more, if you want a 2wd ROCKET SHIP WELL worth its bang for the buck in todays prices...

1991, 1992 1993 some 1994 cars and of course the SV cars 96 euro and Canada 97,98,99 USA

And the big daddy of the all 1994 SE 30 BUT those are not in the 100K mark...

 

2001 6.0 no question. Color scheme Orange/snowcorn w/orange piping or Yellow/Yellow. Coolest car around IMO for around the 200K budget (Ferrari 246 Dino, 330 GTC or 512M not included). Take my opinion for what it's worth, I've never driven a 6.0 or any other Diablo for that matter.

What shades of orange did the diablo come in? I believe the murcielago comes in arancio borealis (the more orange shade) and arancio atlas (the more yellow shade), am I correct?. What is the orange on your 6.0 called and is it more yellow or orange?

It is the three stage Pearl Orange as they call it...more to the Orange side.

The Pearl Yellow is more a green tint to it.

There were FLY YELLOW 6.0 cars, I think 7 total to the USA..BUT I do not know of any FLAT Orange 6.0 cars made...at least to the USA..
