Looking to get my windows darkened on my f430 here in San Diego. Anyone have work done here that they were happy with and would recommend the shop that did the work? Also, I don't want them to be pitch black...any recommendations on how dark to go without losing vision out of the side windows at night? Thanks in advance.

Don't know about the tint shops in SD, but as far as darkness goes, I'd recommend 20% or 35% (lets in 20% or 35% of the light). 20% is what most car companies use for the factory tint, so 35% would let in a little more light. On my Explorer, I have 5% (limo tint) on top of the factory tint. It's impossible to see into my car.

But how is it to see out of your car?

Like Jimbo, I'd love to tint the windows of my cars, but I'm concerned that my vision would be compromised at night.

how often do you drive at night? and do you always keep the windows up?

it really wont be a problem. if you are concerned with glare, just buy some nice polarized sunglasses, and forego the "i have something to hide attitude" with your car...people will already be staring at you even more trying to see who is driving.

I have tinted windows on my ferraris with only 42% just to block some sun light and heat. I didn't want to go to dark and I'm very happy with it. There are fairly new tint films came out to the market about a year or two ago with all the way to 75% real light but will block the heat just like limo tints but it's almost clear that CHP will not notice there are tints on your windows especially the 2 front windows. If you're interested, just pm me and I'll give more details. And yes by the way the 2 front windows are ILLEGAL to have any tint on them according to California state law.

I'm not doing it for that reason...I just think the car looks better from the outside with darkened windows. I want to do the bare minimum amount of tinting but which will still get that dark look to the glass that contrasts so well with the red paint. I honestly rarely notice people staring at the car anymore unless they yell out or something heh.

    Hi,

As you probably know, "Premier mobile group" has *the* sweet reputation up here in the Bay area. Of possible interest to you are their occasional "So cal tours" - From their web site the next is scheduled for November 16th -19th, although I just noticed that they're planning on opening a new So cal location early next year.

These guys just did a clear bra install on my car, and has been said many times, the workmanship is awesome.

    HTH,
    Cheers,
    Ian

Well, on my car, the vision is pretty compromised at night. Can't back up using the rearview mirror. I have to use the sideview mirrors and sometimes have to put the windows down. But I think if you went with 35% tint or lighter, you'll be fine. Many shops have small samples installed on a big piece of glass, so you can get an idea of what it looks like.

Yeah... that's what I figured. I do get rides to/from the airport in sedans with tinted back windows and I can't see a freaking thing out of these windows at night. I'd hate to try to park with my vision that impaired.
