I'll do the honors. Jim if you'll share the car's chassis number I can tell you its early status... Image Unavailable, Please Login
"Not so good" Not sure why anyone would replace a Miura's stock wheels. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Yes, that is the same car in ~2004 when the owner passed away. The car did not sell at that time, the daughter kept the car until I purchased it last year. It is number 3610. Cheers Jim
Thanks Roy, the car is in my garage. Looking forward to driving it this winter, yes our driving season is backwards to everone else's. Cheers Jim
Prod - 221. Motore - 2184. Telaio - 3610. Colore - Bianco. Interno - Skay Senape. Consegna - 19.7.1968. Clienti - Italcar per Cazzoli.
Thanks Joe, I assume skay senape is mustard vinyl. That was the interior color the car was suppose to have, however it got mixed up with with body number 322. My car is body number 321, but the seats still have the original white chalk on them and they are from 322. I assume 322 is the body number for 222 which was suppose to have a black interior. My car has the black interior. The interior is original to the car, you can tell by condition and the workmanship. Also I have discussed it with people who have known the car from new, they attest the car has always had the same black interior. Do you know anything about the dealer? I search the web but did not find anything. I do know the original owner bought it from an Italian dealer and imported the car. Cheers Jim
Hello guys : is any MIURA still unrestored and unmolested after all these years ? is there at least ONE out there ? if so how it looks like ? or all 765 Miuras have been restored so far ?
Yes you are correct in our recounting of what happened to the interior of your car and yes 321 body stamp = production car number 221. I assume the "white chalk" you speak of is on the vinyl basket-weave seat backing, or the underside upholstery? "Italcar" was probably Cazzoli's way of not paying sales tax and then he flipped the car to Kemp (USA). MANY Miuras were sold via Italian dealers directly to American customers who imported them privately, much to the disgust of the official USA concessionaires, Messrs Kaplan, Estes, Pedretti et al.... but it just shows how captivated American enthusiasts were by the Miura in the period that they would go directly to Italy even though concessionaires existed on the ground in the USA.
Martin: there are many Miuras that remain un-restored. I can think of half-a-dozen (6) that I know of right here in the USA, and I certainly don't know them all. Some have been posted and discussed on this very thread...
Chassis 3645 to be auctioned in Padova, It, by Coys on october 25. Philippe S2 7987 www.lamborghinimiura.com Image Unavailable, Please Login
The white chalk is on the fiberglass that is exposed on the forward side of the seat bottom. Not easy to see and probably the reason why it is still there today. Some great photos today. Cheers Jim
Uh-oh. Upon examination it appears that 3372 is not the first RHD Miura, and yet again we have an example of *drum-roll please* incomplete Lamborghini records! It appears the honor of first RHD car clearly belongs to 3198, the 110th Miura built, specifically ordered in RHD from the 1967 Earls Court Motor Show stand. The car was finished on October 11th 1967 and delivered to its Norfolk owner soon thereafter in RHD guise. It has been registered on the same "OPW 8 F" plates since 1967! It should be noted that the current owner of 3198 regards his car as the first RHD unit without question. I think that 3372 was the first time someone at Sant Agata actually remembered to note the abbreviation "GD" (for guisto dirigere = RHD) in the records, and in the compilation of the 1982 Coltrin book that first reference was used, becoming gospel until received wisdom emerged... .
Joe A while back you were talking about taking pictures of a Miura and mentioned the owner had an ATS. Did you ever take the pictures? Any of the ATS?
I haven't been able to go back to his garage yet on account of our schedules.. but I hope to do so soon. Speaking of promises someone asked me to take images of some part of my Miura and its been at the back of my mind - I need a reminder as to what part and I will do it in the next day or so.
