Hey guys, I am new to this forum and so far I love it. I am hoping someone here can help me out with a fog lamp problem I am having. They quit working. I am pretty good with electronics and wiring but this has me stumped. I have gone through and tried to trace my wires but am a little confused as to how the fog lamp circuit works. The lamps are good(I have run a hot lead to them to confirm this). I am hoping someone can help me out with some sort of wiring diagram for the car. Thanks guys I hope someone can help I am lost at this point.

Welcome to Ferrarichat buddy. Please fill in your profile :)

What part of the world are you from? This will help with the diagnosis of your problem as the Euro spec cars have different wiring compared to the U.S spec cars when it comes to the fog lights.

    LOL! :)

These guys are just mucking around Mark, were all here to help. ;)

As for your lighting issue, on a U.S car the fog lamps can be turned on via a switch on the centre console (I am sure you are already aware of this lol) Try to remove the switch from the panel (If you are unsure just ask, many here, including my self have done this to "refinish" the sticky plastic) Then with the park lights on, using a multi meter, check for power at the switch, this will tell us if it is a power feed problem or if it is in the wiring to the fog lights/relay.

Before you do any of this though, make sure you check the fuses, passenger side foot well I believe. :)

Let us know how you get on. :)

If it is a euro spec car they are NOT fog lights and can not be turned on. You can only use it as a "light horn" or what ever you call it ;-)

I know he says he is in the US but I am not sure tif hat automatically means it must be a US spec car. I guess that there has been imported car with euro spec as well.

Cool, good thinking. That could be the case.

Mark, have your fog lights ever worked from the switch in the centre console? I am not sure if the U.S spec cars have the day time flashers. Try flashing the high beam with out the headlights going, on a Euro this will flash the spot lights and is used as a daytime flash. If they work like this then there is a good chance you have a Euro spec car. :)

I just recently aqured the car and was told they worked at one time. I have checked the swith and it shows 12 volts on the yellow and red wire when the car is on and one orange is powerd also. when I flip the switch the other orange wire becomes hot. So I have power in and power out of the switch. From there the wire seems to run into the fuse panel on the pass side foot box. After the foot box it spits into 2 wires. I believe one goes to the dash light and the other I assume would feed the relay to the fog lamps but after taking my multi meter and checking everywire at the front fuse box while switch the fog lamp switch I am unable to find the wire that signals the relay.

Mark, have a look at the tail lights when you turn that switch on, do the centre tail lights turn on? You might have a Euro spec car....

I have checked the bulbs. They are good. I also turned the lights on and hit the fog lamp switch then I hit the high beam switch and the fog switch and still no lights. Does any one have a wiring diagram. It is a strange circuit that seems to run through at least 2 relays then to the fuses. If I could see how it is wired I could trace wires and fix it I'm sure.

Check your earth/s to the tail lights, resistance to current flow will cause hot wires, use you meter to check continiuty to a ground source

I am talking about the centre red lights(the 2 closest together), not the reverse light. On a Euro car these are fog lights. Try it and see, turn the switch on and walk around the back of your car, if there are 2 bright red lights going then the switch is operating correctly and you have a euro car, if not then safe to assume you have a U.S spec car and we can move down that path.

Sorry, it is not an easy thing to explain. As you are aware there is an inner and outer lamp in each of the four tail light assemblies, the inner lamps are a pair of reverse lamps and a pair of indicators, the outer of the assembly is a mixture of tail and stop lamps, on Euro cars there is also the addition of fog lamps, these replace the 2 middle brake/tail lamps and are very bright. I hope that sort of makes sense.

I think Robbie can identify what market your car was made for from the VIN?

If the 8th letter in your VIN is "A" then you have a US spec car...
