On Sunday October 26th, there will be a Slalom (autocross) event at the Adesa Auto Auction in Manville, NJ. It will be the same course layout as the FCA 2007 Autocross that was held at Watkins Glen. Come on out and exercise your driving skills. (Actually, this is a low key fun event followed by "bench racing" at a local pub). PM me or Steve (Fasterisbetter) for additional information.

Sorry if this is a silly question, but is this a Ferrari-only event, or open to others?

The event is open to all cars - (no SUVs, minivans, etc.). Cost is $20 for JCNA members, $25.00 for non JCNA members.
Each car gets 5 runs. If there is time, we'll do additional "fun runs". Then it off to the bar for lunch (lunch is whatever it is divided by # of people). No trophies, just bragging rights.

(I have no idea about Frank's Chicken House...)

As Paul said, this is an autocross-type event -- three laps around the cones, first lap is an hour-glass shape, second lap a figure 8, third lap an oval. It is a standing start, and you must come to a full stop in the ending box. This event is a true test of driving skills, as it's done in first gear, and it's all about cornering, braking, reaction time and quick thinking (to keep track of where you are on the course).

The slalom is a program run by Jaguar Cars of North America (JCNA) and provides a venue for competition across North America on a fixed, measured course. Timing is done with electronic equipment, so you really get an accurate time, every run. Although the event is run by the local Jaguar clubs, we open the events up to any other cars (no SUVs, pickup trucks, etc.) that want to join us for the fun. In the past we have had several Ferraris, Porsches, Corvettes, Subarus, BMWs, etc. For more information and to view video clips of cars doing the slalom, check out:

    http://www.jcna.com/library/slalom/index.php

Any questions, PM me or Paul (PAD). If you provide an email address in your PM, either Paul or I can forward the announcement flyer to you.

Heck yeah! That would be a blast to see that go around the course. You might set a new North American records with that thing.

Although tomorrow's weather looks crappy right now, Sunday is looking to be a great day. Come out to Adesa Auto Auction in Manville, NJ and test your driving skills and the performance of your sports car. The event starts at 9 a.m. with registration and tech inspection, 9:30 is a mandatory drivers meeting and explanation of the course for our first time drivers, and first car starts between 9:45 and 10 a.m. We are usually done by noon, with lunch to follow.

Although this is a Jaguar club event, any make is welcome, as long as it's "sporty", i.e., no SUV's, minivans, pickup trucks, etc. allowed on the course. Sporty sedans are welcome as much as Ferraris, Lambos, Corvettes, Porsches, BMWs, etc.

Adesa Auto Auction is right off Main Street in Manville, NJ, not far from exit 13 off Rt. 287. It's right next to the Wal-Mart and behind the McDonalds, so it's easy to find. Just tell the guard at the gate that you are with the Jaguar club event.

Hope to see a bunch of you guys there. PM me with an email address if you want the official flyer.

    Regards,
    Steve

For all you guys who missed it, this was a really fun event! We do this 4 times a year on the huge parking lots at the regional auto auction in Manville, NJ. Although sponsored by the Jaguar club, as you can see, it's open to non-Jaguars. Hope that we'll see some of you at our event next spring. It's a great opportunity to have some fun with your car, do some spirited driving in a safe environment, and mingle with a great group of car enthusiasts.

Cheers all, and thanks for joining in the fun, Dennis!

The pleasure was mine, Steve. Your event was well organized and getting together for lunch after was great. Everyone there had a great time and are surely looking forward to the first event next year. I know I am. Thanks again for posting the event.

Sorry, Bob, no one had a camera with an unbreakable lens to take your picture. =)

Thanks for coming down and helping out. Always good to see you. Hopefully, next year you'll have the Mazeratti twin-turbo race car ready to bring down and show off what kind of times it can get.

Why did I know that was coming ...

Hey, I had fun. Trailer the race car there? OMG! I'm not sure it would be all that good. The twin turbo motor is a bit on/off at those slow speeds.

    Maybe the Espada?

Do you have an Italian tractor class? ;>)

No, not blurry. That's just Bob; he's rather vague much of the time.

Oh I think this may fall into the "be careful what you ask for" category and being blurred is a counterbalancing blessing! ;>))
