    Hello:

I know there are Porsche and Ferrari US owners in this forum and am hoping to gain some insight.

Both of the above cars have similar purpose, but the question is 10 years from now with all things equal (condition, mileage, ...) which one will be more valuable.

    TIA for your insight/opinions.

CS will be one down in the history book as one of the most beautiful Ferrari ever built with performance to back it up. People will be asking "Remember the days of the CS? Remember when Ferrari built cars with killer looks and performance? Remember back when Ferrari meant passion instead of a wannabe Bentley or Mercedes"

Mean while Porsche announces 10994 GT5 RS6 which will look almost identical to the 996 but faster and ever more expensive. It wll still have that same look, same useless back bench, same RR layout, same badge, same excellent performance well.... same everything.

The question is which car will hold the most value of it's original MSRP in 10 years time......correct ?

Both cars are extremely low volume hand built cars.......both cars had very similar MSRP's. Both cars appeal to the same narrow and sparsely populated market demographic.

The difference will be intangible, and perhaps unmeasurable, IMHO, if the two cars being compared are equal in terms of their condition and mileage.

The Ferrari does cost significantly more to service than the Porsche, and this may weight heavily against the resale value at the time, depending upon the condition of the 360 Stradale in question obviously.......or maybe not.

Minor correction: CS MSRP was around $195K-215K depending on options. GT3RS MSRP was around $135-165K, depending on options.

Interesting, thanks Yin........didn't think it was a $30K-$50K difference, premiums not withstanding........IMHO they will still be around the same % of MSRP I think.......

Hate to break it you, but ferraris these days are wannabe Bently or Mercedes built mostly for poseurs who have no real clue about driving or care, and who buy them as fashion acessories.

If you want a real ferrari start at everything before they became "dirveable" for everybody. I would say the 512TR Boxer 328 F40 were the last of the real ferraris, you actualy had to have some mechanical sympathy and driving skill which meant commitment.. These and the models earlier were cars with looks like nothing else, built like nothing else and performance way beyond what else was out there.

A 430 Scud is still cool even if the styling is shock cartoon as opposed to true art. But in a world of Ford Gt's ZR1 vettes GT3 posrches Gallardos even GTrs you are buying "brand experience" and statement in a Ferrari as much as you are buying a truly superior product. Not to metion the negative stigma based on who you are associated with. Sad really

the answer to this question is the same as its always been for ferrari vs porsche comparisons. the porsche will be more practical and cost less while the ferrari will be more exotic, hold value better.

i would love to trade in my 997 gt3 for a stradale but not for another $50k.

After much thought - I have found a one owner, <6K mile, factory stripe/stereo/extinguisher, dealer serviced, local Stradale so the GT3 RS goes tomorrow.

I hope I'm making the right decision.

Totally agree with this. The CS will be worth more and probably worth more as a percent of its original cost too. It will of course cost more to keep up, maybe a lot more, but I suspect it will hold its value better. Neither car were built in great numbers but neither one is particularly rare as rare cars go anyway... They were built in numbers greater than 1000 for the US market I believe... I am SURE Porsche built more than 1000 GT3's anyway. Guessing since the CS was built during a hell of an economic boom it was built in numbers above 1000 but maybe not 1000 for the USA...

Spiderman, I like the look of the 997 GT3 better than the current Scud, but not better than the CS...I think the CS and 360's in general are really works of art as much as cars! Beautiful! The 997's (all of them too) are beautiful, but not 360 beautiful. As noted by another poster the 430's are cartoonish and not my cup of tea. YMMV!

I don't know about the 997s being beautiful (any and all of them). IMO the Cayman S is more beautiful than any 997 out there right now. The last truly beautiful Porsches were the 993 Turbo and GT2.

i do like the looks of my 997 gt3 as best of any of the 911's but its still only a 911. for true porsche (or any other kind for that matter) go no further than the carrera gt. i feel thats the best looking car made in the modern era.

360 cs might have purer lines than the scud but people will warm up to the scud as the years go by. it looks crazy and raw the way a race car should while the cs has a feminine side to it

I disagree. The 996 Gt3 Rs is nicer looking than the 997, An the C.S is nicer looking than that. It's lines are more italian looking and delicate but at the right angles it can look mean. An the scud might look raw but no car with Gps or bluetooth will ever be a race car.
