Derek, While over in Italy we ended up in a few Ferrari stores, and I ended up with a few questions that I could not really ask in Italian, and was hoping you could answer to satisfy my curiosity. Ferrari S|T|O|R|E in Maranello, Milan & Venice Ferrari S|H|O|P in Venice Airport (coming soon) Other various shops that sold lots of Ferrari "stuff". 1> What exactly makes for a "Ferrari S|T|O|R|E", and are they "officially controlled"? 2> If they are "all the same", why does/did the Maranello STORE offer 20% off for owners, Milan STORE offer 10% off for owners, and 0% at the Venice STORE, as they claimed they were a franchise, and did not offer discounts to owners? 3> How does #2 above compare with the Ferrari STORE at the Wynn in Vegas which also did not offer an owner discount other than we did not have to pay to look at their cars for sale (I assume the dealership and the STORE are connected, but could be wrong)? 4> What makes for a STORE vs a SHOP? 5> As far as I know, FOD is neither a STORE or SHOP (say unlike the Wynn which has a STORE), are there advantages or disadvantages? Thanks, Mike
Jeez Mike, I'm not sure As far as I'm aware the Ferrari S|T|O|R|E (s) are owned by Ferrari spA but I'm not sure why they would offer varying levels of discounts to owners. Maybe the Ferrari S|H|O|P (s) are licensed to sell authentic items but not owned by Ferrari? FoD is of curse licensed to sell Ferrari products under our dealer agreement but that doe not equate it to being a Ferrari S|T|O|R|E...hope that makes sense.
Thanks! That is what I thought for the Italy stores (but then I was not sure because of the STORE @ Wynn. I also noted that the Maranello, Milan & Venice stores all had an F1 car on display, where the STORE @ Wynn did not. Combine this with the one person at the Venice store that spoke broken English said they were a franchise and I was quite unsure at that point. The SHOP at the Venice airport looked like it was going to be a mini-STORE, but with no room for an F1 car on display, so perhaps this is the franchise? And yes, I know FoD is licensed to sell products Is there some sort of catalogue for all the "stuff" available that somebody could order, as it seems impossible to have all items in stock. For example the Milan store was the largest, and was 5 stories tall!
Did you notice entering the store in Maranello the sound of F1 engines? I thought that was a pretty fun way to announce people visiting
Yes, and I told the wife that we should have that for entering our garages and she agreed!!! Now to figure out how to do that... (I know I could pull some audio off the video I shot of the F2008 going around Fiorano...)
