I was looking over all the colors available for the 430 and I noticed that I like black but I really don't like to deal with all the swirl marks and I like red, but it's all too common. I saw a color I really liked on a Ducati which was a very dark black/gray metallic color with a matte clearcoat. Looks gorgeous but repainting any Ferrari is a killer in resale value, since I plan on keeping it and driving the crap out of it, it probably even doesn't matter. Just looking to see if someone would offer any words of wisdom. Oh, I did see a really cool flat black 360 once (not the metallic that I'm going to do), but it was very unique and I loved it.

A matte black adhesive film like the one on the F430 below could be your solution. Having the car painted in matte black and maintaining that color is a PITA. Matte colors are much more sensitive to scratches and swirls than glossy colors.........you can't buff a matte finish.

A friend of mine in Virginia has his F430 in Matte Black. I think the place is in Texas that fly out and install these things. Its film just like like Tarek said. Makes a lot more sense for resale value. It is not just flat colors you can do it could be anything really (color or image). I think the company started by doing race cars.

I think it looks very cool - but not something I would want permanently

Most cars with matte black finishes are films.

do you have any 'ballpark' estimate on how much something likethat would cost?

    And to take it off?

I like this color, however i think it must be extremely difficult to maintenance. I talked with my paintshop while ago and they showed me some samples of real matte paints which should be available soon. These new paints would be possible buff and they should still stay matte. They will be VERY expansive.

So film is propably best solution and not permanent. I saw somehwere cost for complete car around 10K

The Lambos are avail in Mat colors from the factory. Just like the Gallardo Nera that had the flat black panels.

It costs US$4500-5000 to cover a complete car, at least with the company I deal with.

Easy to take off.........same as a 3M clear bra.

BALLER. That matte finish is completely off of the hook. Where do I buy this?

i am on my second black 430 (first was a coupe, second a spider). if you wash the car properly, swirl marks are not an issue. should swirl marks occur, they can easily be buffed out. black is a more "reserved" color and i would not let the fear of swirl deter you from this choice!

My 430 is Nero Daytona, a subtle metallic black. Swirl marks are not a problem.

thank you for the information, I will definitely go with the wrap given such a good pricing! I figure this will help protect the paint as well. If I am fortunate enough to find a nero black, I would go for it.
