I'm pretty sure I know the answer to this one...BUT.... I acquired Ken Rices 355 Challenge car recently. For those of you who dont remember he was the CEO of Enron Broadband. From the little research I was able to do he was a pretty good driver in the Challenge series. In any case, the Enron graphics that the car ran the series in have been removed... there has been a debate with friends as to putting them back on for originality/history. Whats the opinion out there...bad taste? I am a bit leary about putting them back on the car because I will probably drive it on the street to various car shows, etc. At the same time its kind of interesting from a historical and social perspective... shareholders in Enron probably dont agree. Let me have it! lol.

First of all--Congrats, that is a beautiful car. When you can add your info to the registry and upload some pics. I would guess it is your call. I wouldn't worry about what other people think or say. Either way I think it will be great....

Thanks... I love the colour combo...N.A.R.T. colours! lol. I dont want to upset those who lost money in the Enron scheme...its like rubbing it in their face. I am leaning more toward not putting them back on...I wanted to get a feel from those on the Fchat about it.... I can send you some pictures of the car like those posted below... its already registered with you... I will send you some fresh photos when I get the car. FOH is working on it....hopefully I will get it in time for a charity event in Houston next month...

    Kind Regards,
    Christopher

+1 Just leave the ENRON stickers off and restore the rest of it. It's not like the guy was Senna or something and you wanted to restore it due to his historical significance.

In any case the car is beautiful and enjoy the heck out of driving it!

If you were showing the car I would but if your driving on the street the way things are now I would stay away unless your always around your car. Ferrari's always collect attention yet alone a loud challenge car. As for reported problems valve stem caps have locks on them for a reason and that is why the yoshi sheilds are stuck on using 3m double tape so when jerks come along the damage is not as bad as if they where bolted on like the factory sheilds are. As for the Enron sticker showing yeah I would it's the history of the car as for the street I would not try to put up anymore attention then I need the way things are now. Remember the Tommy HIL challenge car was stolen. Who would guess that car. It draws so much attention yet some FOOL stole it but its your car. When people see rare stuff they seem to what a piece of it. And these are people who don't have a problem with you just imagine someone who lost alot from enron and even more from the stock market. LOL

I guess I wasnt clear.... they only removed the Enron decals. The debate was whether to reapply them or not.

In that case, leave the Enron decals off. Do you have pictures of it as it sits w/o the Enron sticker?

Very cool car. I would leave off the Enron decals.
I'm planning to bring another exFoH 355C to the MSR Houston event.
    Hope to see you there.

    Hello Mark,

Yes I am planning on being there.... one of my best friends is organizing this... he is putting on the Ferrari concourso at Highland village... a few of us from New Orleans will be there. I look forward to meeting you... without the Enron decals..FOH is doing a bunch of work on it so I am hoping it will be done in time... I will be there regardless.

    Kind Regards,
    Christopher

Driving the car with the Enron stickers these days after the great Wall Street debacle? You must have some cojones, a huge insurance policy and decent kevlar clothing, dude. Yep, I'd leave them in the trailer.

    Enron is nothing.

If it had Fannie/Freddie decals, I would say "no".

$500 million vs $11 billion, respectively.

    Some lost with Enron.

We ALL lost with Fannie and Freddie!!

Leave the Enron sticker on, it would be a great conversation piece. FYI, My challenge car when I bought it had a big cheesy horse on the hood. After doing some research, I found some original pictures of the car and i returned it back to the original racing stickers. A couple of months later I entered it into a concourse in Hilton Head for fun and it won an award from J.W. Marriott. Why? Because he remembered the car from the series in 2001 and he liked the originality. I think people want these cars with the original stickers on them.

Yep i agree with that. Lets preserve the originality of racing Ferraris now for the decades to come.

Perhaps I should use some magnetic Enron graphics..... I do think that it would be one of the more interesting challenge cars due to the Enron association....certainly a talking point. Ferrari guys will understand the originality concept but the general public will have no idea and thats the problem. I'm completely lost now... perhaps I will try them on for a while and see what happens....

Don't worry about the general public. The general public thinks your car is noisy, frivolous, fuel wasting and a dangerous machine already. Enron on the side is the least of your worries. Who cares! It would be more dangerous to put "Nascar Sucks" on the side.
Talk to Juanfangio guy on Fchat aka Dave Scott. He drives his 348 Ch everywhere (drive thru's, coffee shops, school zones, grocery store parking lots). He can give you some insight on the GP perception including the local authorities opinions on the car when he comes into town.

I say keep them on- I like the idea of keeping it original- it was/is a part of history so why change it- plus I like it. besides, magnetic decals wont work on the lower doors.. After seeing your beautiful car, I am going to make a replica of it.. congrats on your purchase- enjoy it

Since Ferrari made approx. 109 of these cars do you think they have an upside from a collectors point of view? Obviously a classic racing Ferrari would be worth more with its original livery no matter what the sponsoring company did in 50s/60s. I am not suggesting that 355CHs will be the GTOs of the future but do we own something even remotely special? I wonder if my son's son will be reading magazines about the gentleman racer 355 Challenge cars and what they brought at auction.... or is that era over. Seems like most racing Ferraris command a significant sum no matter what era prior to the 80s...

But you know what. When the classic racing Ferraris were racing back in the day, they were just another racing car. They were rubbed, dented and crashed, then they were knocked back into shape using big hammers. Quite a few were striped for parts to put onto another car. What i am saying is that back in the day no one dreamed that these cars would be prized possessions of the future in 30 years time. So regarding modern racers i dont think anyone really knows whats going to happen.
I mean this year when i took my son to Lemans we watched the Risi ferraris win out right in there class. My son fell in love with the Risi F430s. So whats the betting that if them cars come on the market in 20 years time. If my son was in a position to buy it, he would because then it would be an old Ferrari Le mans winning racer that he remembered as a young lad.
