i recently purchased a 98355f1 b car. the tires on the car need to be replaced soon. i have an oppurtunity to purchase a set of 360
wheels and tires with minimal tire wear for a price that would equal buying new tires for my 355 rims. will the 360 wheel tire package
bolt on to my 355 with no issues. are the tire sizes and offsets correct. the 360 tire sizes are 215/ 40 frt. and 275/40 rear.
    any help would be appreciated.

I personally think the 355 rim is one of the most handsome in recent years. I wouldn't consider an exchange for 360 rims to be a trade up by any stretch.

But if you do....PM me - I'd like to buy your 355 rims. ;)

Without a doubt the standard 355 wheels look the best on the 355. Even compared to the aftermarket wheels that many put on there cars. No non standard wheel has come close to looking so right on the 355 as the standard units.IMO. (Borrowed picture)

+1. There is nothing stopping you from increasing the tire width. Do a search. I believe some FChatters have even increased to 235 (f) and 295 (r).

I guess I'm in the minority here, because I love the 360 wheels. They are a huge improvement on my 348. (But I would have gladly opted for 355 wheels, too, but I prefer the 360 wheels). On a 355, however, the rear wheels will not fit well. The 355 had an improved wider track than the 348, and the 360 wheels will therefore stick out too far. I guess you could get a slightly smaller tire size for the 360 wheel, but then you'd be defeating your purpose of getting a cheap set of tires along with your wheel upgrade.

I actually like the 360 wheels just fine, myself. But if I already had 355 rims, I think I'd just keep em on.

Rudy, I'm not passing judgment on what looks best, etc. as you know what they say about beauty. But, there is a big offset diff. between the 360 and the 355 and they will not fit.

Just as an FYI, I have 295s on the rear of stock 355 wheels.

+1 ..... I have seen 360 wheels on a 355 and the offset was waaay off!!! They stuck out about 2" too far. They looked ridiculous :(.

The 355 wheels look timeless and being magnesium makes them far lighter than most aftermarket wheels too :)!

I considered some challenge wheels in the past but thought they were the same as standard 355 wheels. Though I never tried lifting them side by side  ................... are the 355ch wheels the same widths as standard??

I could be wrong, but I think rim widths are measured from the inside of the wheel lip/beadseat.

So judging from those pics you so nicely posted, I would gather the fronts are 8" wide and the rears are 10" wide. That is the same widths as stock  ............... I wonder if there are different versions of challenge wheels ???

+1 Width is measured from the bead seat.

Never mind these little challenge rims, get some 19"s ;)

    :D

I also prefer the factory 355 rim to the 360 star rim. :)

So if you figure in that, the wheels appear to be maybe a 1/2" wider than a stock wheel?

Robbie, be sure to take some before and after pics of your CH wheels so you can post the transformation.

Did you get that street insert out??? If need be I'll come over and help you push that dead horse out of the garage so you can get into the attic..lol
