And there in lies the problem today.

Paps it is well documented within F-Chat how many ferraris you want to own. :D ( just like me wanting an F40)

You don't own them yet, but one day you will. :D (like me and the F40)

In the US they use someone elses money to buy them and then when it comes time to pay the brown stuff hits the fan.

Interesting looking at the E-types in that auction.
The series 1 didn't sell at maybe too much money for now but the series3 did at 50K. Nice example well documented and supported though.

So obviously there are going to be some bargains to be had in the next few months, like that 430 spider that sold at the pickles auction for 280k and only 1 year old!

Any ideas for the best places to keep checking to mkae sure i can be at the right time at the right place so to speak?

Place an ad in the Sydney & Melbourne papers:
" Ferrari: discrete private cash buyer seeking (*insert model & specs here). prompt settlement.

It's worked for me, surprising how many people come out of the woodwork.
Some people want to sell, but don't want to advertise that they are getting rid of the car. Don't want mates / customers / FCA members to know they need to shift the car.

So this has worked for you mike? how about for more specific models like the lambo superleggera for eg? there are 3 from the dealer that havnt been sold and probably another 2 0r 3 floating around the net for sale. all around the 470-500k mark. do you think this is the sort of car you could make a lowball offer to for say 300k and be successful or is this tactic only applicable for the more common models like a rossa 430? i would think that in the next few months and def by the end of jan there will be a lot more bargains up for sale.

Yep, has worked for me - and the cost of running an ad is very low for the potential return.

No idea on the Lambo market, but a discount from 470k to 300k seems savage. But if there are several for sale and have been for some time it implies the demand is low at that price, if someone needs to sell , it might be be possible.

In terms of timing, I expect the "must sell today" cars have been the result of margin calls or imminent insolvency. The market has already fallen quite a bit in the past 6 months, and those that had to sell their cars as a result of something like that have already had to do it.
I suspect the majority of cars on the market are people who are de-leveraging themselves in an orderly fashion, they want to sell, but don't have to right now. If the market falls further, and the economy continues to slow, then I would expect there would be more "must sell today" deals out there.
I doubt that "post Christmas debt blues " are going to affect the price of a 470K Lambo,
