Brad, I just ran across this thread and your post today. It's been a year and one week since you made this statement. So, as a followup, have you made the plunge yet and purchased that first Ferrari?

I do believe the black one is a real 288 GTO. I remember seeing the picture before. Wheelbase looks longer also.

    Oh, the horror, the travesty!

Why take one of the world's best handling cars and turn it into a dragster?

And that thing in the picture just above the 288: What was that guy thinking?

Personally, I've never seen a cosmetic modification done to the body of a 308 that improved it in any way - and that goes for the GTO "rebodies," too!

That most likely is not a 308 turned into a dragster, so please don't panic. That is a ground up tube chassis race car that happens to look like a 308 for the sake of "uniqueness".

I do agree that it is pretty hard to do anything cosmetic that improves a 308!

You don't think the 308 chassis will take a front engine with 8000 horse power?

I think this was a better use of a 308 body than the Pasta Ferrari on Monsters Garage

Unless you call the 288 GTO a modification to the 308 body
those smoothe, bulging fenders really look great!

Chris, Remind me what the story is on the rub rail around your 308's belt line. There is a car in Bloomington,Indiana with that as well and the paperwork looked as if it was a dealer installed option. These are the only 2 I've ever seen like that.

I have seen that on a few other cars. The owner of the one here in the front range of the Rockies area told me it was a dealer option.

I don't know it was on the car when I bought it. Car was originally sold in France.

It is quite a heavy piece of rubber, with threaded grommets imbedded.
