Are you asking how long it takes to change the clutch or how long will your current clutch is going to last.
Is it a coupe or a spider?

I think the book says 12 hours. I did mine in about 7. It's not that hard but there is allot of stuff that has to be removed.

The book really says 12 hours? Usually those books are WAY under what it actually takes even a well trained tech.

You started with a completly assembled running car, on the floor, changed the clutch, removed the flywheel, had it resurfaced, removed the throw out bearing, assembled the new unit installing all 6 multi piece seals, reassembled everthing after washing it, bled the clutch, filled the oil, ran the SD2 setup on the clutch, test drove and cleaned the car in 7 hours?

    I say bullschit.

It's posts like that that give the internet a bad name.

No wonder I wind up throwing people out of my shop after they read the crap in here.

16 to 20 hours, if all goes well. It takes an hour with the sd2 alone.

my guess is = 20 hours plus to do a complete job

plus meaning, who knows above 20 hours,,,,,, but it ain't no 7 hours

it's alot of work .. seen it done

if you did it in 7 hours, you obviously did not do the slave / seals / bleed / test and tweak numbers .. which means, you're gonna be doing it again once those leak
or you prematurely wear out the clutch

takes about 6-7 hours just to get the trans off

and try doing an early spider :)

The complete convertible top mechanism must be removed from the car in order to change the clutch.

Cant be done. Convert top support structure under the fiberglass tub, right over the bolts.

No joke on my part. When they first came out I was getting ready to get a whole saw and some nice big black rubber plugs but my fact finding mission found out it was a no go.

The purpose to access the bolts is to remove the upper engine craddles right? I can see the bolt heads way back there and very small head room, even if the bolts can be loosen I probably wouldn't be able to slide the bolts out without hitting the convertible top tray. Wouldn't taking off the oil tank cover allow the transmission to clear to slide out without removing the upper engine craddle?
