As many of you know I went to Monaco to race in the 6 hours kart cup. Let me just say it was a dream come true. Racing in Monaco is every racers dream and I am thankful for getting an opportunity like this. Its amazing how much effort was put into this event, it was like a mini Monaco Grandprix. They take their racing very seriously in Europe. We raced the lower section of the F1 track which was the swimming pool section down to rascasse onto the new pit area and then bridge was built to come back down to the pool area. They had setup restaurants along the side the track, these were full service restaurants that were serving excellent food. There were four large screens setup around the track for the spectators to watch. Timing and scoring was the same system they use for F1. There were about 20 thousand people that watched the race through out the weekend!

As for our results, we did good until we had mechanical problems. It was the best showing for the US team in the 12 years. I was fourth quickest on Friday practice and qualified 12th. We were up the 7th place in the race until the battery died. We lost 12 laps and were all the way down to 32nd place. Came all the way back up to 13th and then our third driver put into the wall and we ended up finishing 18th. The team that qulaified behind us finished third, so definitley we had a top five. Anyways, the good news is I have been invited back for next year. We will do our best to finish in the top five next year. I wanted say thank you for everyone's support here on Ferrarichat and I hope that some of you can come out next year to watch.

    Best Regards,

    Vivek Tandon

Congratulations. I am sure it was a ton of fun, and an excellent experience. I too want to see some pictures. It is a shame that you had mechanical problems but it sounds like your team still did pretty well.

Fantastic! Yeah it's hard to avoid mechanical problems in such a long race. we have mechanical problems in 15-20min sprint races, but a 6 hour race? Something is gonna go wrong!

    Can't wait for the pics!

Yes racing there must have been quite a thrill, would love to see photos, particulalry of the special bridge you mention between the upper and lower portions of the track: sounds amazing.

In 1985 I took part in a kart race right in front of Versailles: how is that for a setting!? It was on the avenue to haeds straight to the chateau, closed off, a typical hay bale course. Finished 3rd, got my trophy from the widow of the actor Lino Ventura. No photos alas.

I will post pictures today. The race was broken up into 3 2 hour sessions. 6 hours straight would have been to hard on the karts.

    Very very cool.
    Congratulations on your experiance.
If you see Ron Dennis lurking in the crowd, kick him in the shins. That way he'll keep an eye on you for sure. ;)
