Fun to drive?

If I knew how to post a poll I would've but I don't so...

A poll in the general section tells us that half the drivers do less than 3K per year in their Ferraris. Its predominately US drivers though and I wonder about us aussies.

Is your Ferrari fun to drive?

If it is, how many K's a year do you do of it?

Is it only fun under some circumstances, like club track days or carb runs and no fun under general Oz driving conditions?

Or is it so good its an addictive thing that has you sneaking out early to fit it in to your busy life and you grab every chance and winding bit of road you can find?

Maybe some could care less about driving and its all about tinkering and pristine presentation. What's the go, guys How good is yours' to drive?

 

I LOVE driving my 348.

Was hoping to take it for a drive this week, but perhaps I wont be able to. I am too busy working around the house so far these days off. So will see what happens.

I didnt drive it last week because I was too busy.

I average around 2000 km's a year in my Ferrari so far. Due for a engine out major service, but couldnt be bothered with it just yet.

 

enjoyed the Boxer.had it for 4 years did about 5,000ks about 4,000 in the 1st year.
It was a buzz,to tempting to drive fast, real fast.

I generally drive my car at least once a week if the weather is fine.Low legal speed limits and atrocious sydney roads limit my driving as well.I went for a drive to Bondi beach yesterday with my wife and two kids.The drive was fun,looking for parking wasn't

 

the boxer engine does sound great ..........i have taken a 512 tr for a drive once and the sound was incredible

I don't get it to be honest.
That's one twenty mile drive each week.
I'm in no way critical. Its your toy to do with as you please,

However I drive the honda that distance several times each week to go to the shops.
Half an hour a week seems a tad un-motivated.
Surely a Ferrari should make me want to find an excuse to drive up to see the guys in Ipswich just to enjoy a three hour run up from my place?

Am wondering if its kinda like sex in marriage. A great wave of passion then later it can settle down to half an hour a week. About the same time it takes to drive twenty miles I notice.

 

That's a lot more like what I'm hoping for.
One of the world's best sportscars from any period in my life time should really ring the bells for any driver I feel.
If it won't I want to know why exactly.
Low milage amongst the F430 crowd is another thing. I get that many are trying to cut costs or even have it for free. Or were before this month anyway.

 

I've had some good cars.
2 racing 500bhp Mustangs,Porsche's a couple of good E-Types but non had the thrill of the Boxer,its mid range power from say 5,000revs in the 3/4 gears was awesome and that induction/exhaust sound.
In another life i would have kept it.Speed limits of today destroyed ownership for me.

 

i love my cars and drive them regularly (like last week through the twisties)...but they're not as much fun in city driving as my scooter...they're just toys, not meant for anything practical.

 

Yes the limits and govt use of them as a taxation system on motorists has taken a lot of the pleasure out of driving and left a letter of the law kind of speed management with no regard for driving safety. As an older driver I too remember better days where you were treated with respect. Not as a criminal as today.
Certainly am aware how it may impact my Ferrari ownership.

I use to drive it to Brisbane once or twice a week and then most days a quick 50km spin up to the M1 down to Robina and back home, ALWAYS drove it on the weekend somewhere and then each month with the club to either track or driveday

Been taking it quietly lately

I do about 10-20k kms a year in it, belts and tensioners every 2 years , oil filter every 10k kms, oil every 5k kms, gearbox oil every year, set of tyres per year, shocks every 5 years

the QV has done Melb-Bris-Hobart-Bris-Canberra-Bris-Syd-Bris, never broken down, never even looked like it since Marc J fixed all the niggly little things

the spoiler OTOH has been a major problem bottoms out on EVERY outing, but I still look for excuses to take it for a spin

1: Yes, fun to drive - but not exclusively so.
2: Less than 2k per year - across 3 drivable Ferrari's ATM
3: Generally a lack of opportunity to enjoy the cars - either because they are not appropriate for the journey ( i.e. going shopping, dropping kids off at school, going to Uni) or because parking is likely to be an issue or because of weather (drive in the rain = dirty car = results in time wasted in washing & cleaning before the car can be put away). Simply easier to take something else.
4: Nope, not that addictive - I'd rather sleep in There are limited "good" driving roads around the ACT, and driving the same roads over and over again get's boring pretty quickly (except for the panic when avoiding huge Kangaroos)

+0.5 - not scooter, and not comparing ownership - but spent enough miles in cars that need to do 150+ to really enjoy to know that I have way more than enough fun in my stupid little buzzbox X when it comes to the 99% of my driving which is inner-city stuff.

 

I don't know what it would be like to own and drive a Ferrari but I can contribute something on living with other desirable cars...

I've done about 6,000 km since buying the LP640 in about April (?) and tend to use it once or twice a week, plus a decent drive most weekends. It is probably down to opportunity - Adelaide has one of the highest penetrations of exotics in Australia and I think it is down to available roads. We can be in brilliant driving country within 15 minutes of the city centre so that makes using a sports car much easier and fun. And I like driving more than most people I know - even other enthusiasts.

Driving in the city is still fun for me - in the Lambo the low slung driving position and the sound of the exhaust add to the feelgood factor - every drive is an event. But I couldn't drive it every day - not practical to do so.

Not sure what a Ferrari would be like to own but pretty good I would imagine. I suspect I'd drive the wheels off it if I had one.

No, that was the carpark at Crackenback - 15kmh speed limit.

Yes, the drive through the Snowy's was awesome, but the start is 2 1/2 hours away, and the whole 'loop' makes it a day trip - hardly a casual drive - and only possible in summer.
