Thanks all. It was fun to do. Havent made a Jackolantern in years.

Template eh? i might still have it actually, but for those with Adobe Illustrator all i did was give the vector image of the horse a really large black stroke... something like 30pts... unitil it became a shadow shape but still recognizable.

Yes, power tools help tremendously. Didnt know at first whether it would do the job, but after a bit i got a system going....

    thx again...

i'll attach a pdf of the silhouette i used. i guess one can use their print dialogue menu to enlarge or reduce to the size of their pumpkin.
technically with that stroke one wouldnt see the triangle between the forelegs, so i eyeballed it. It didnt look right without it and the drill seemed to be working good. I didnt think it would break its legs. Needless to say i was verrrrrry careful... it was the last thing i carved.

check out my other thread on this and other drawings on my whiteboard.

Not being a F-Pumpkin champion such as yourself, what was the Windex for?

The pdf above should work in Acrobat Reader, so Illustrator isnt required.
Good luck with yours. Probably an obvious point, but when choosing a pumpkin... the larger the better. This one is about 11 inches tall.

i marked on the triangle for the space between the forelegs with a pen. I didnt keep within the lines too well and some ink remained. I gave it a rub with Windex to remove it and noticed it shined up really good, so i gave it an overall shine with it.
Didnt want to break out the claybar and the Maguires.... :)
