Very philosophical in his approach. Also interesting in his opinion new drivers to day are more efficient than when he started in F1.
Makes me smile when i remember back when he was the villain in F1 in his early days. But now butter would not melt
Wish he would get that itch just one more time and race LH.

Thanks for the post!! I loved his response about Kimi asking for help, when the interviewer tried equating Schumi and Tiger Woods, great answer. I am happy for him and hope he continues to enjoy his retirement.

good interview...

saw in the news lately that Lance Armstrong was trying to ramp up his bicycle racing career again...one more sad case of can't let it go...good to see that Schumi has a broad view of the big pic, vs. just trying to 'win one more'.

I was just about to post this, but then i saw this thread. I love this interview every time that schumi is being interviewed you can tell that he is so intelegent the way he answers questions and everything about him. I like it when Michael gives interviews because now that he is retired it's the only oppotunity that we get to hear from him. I loved every second of this interview and it's great to hear from a true legend. It also sound very much like he is enjoying his retirement, by spending time with his kids and family, and just been able to do what ever they want as a family must be fantastic for him to settle down after the life that he's lived.

There is no one around today that comes close to Michael Schumacher. No one.

I appreciated his honesty, and I thought the answer about Tiger Woods was brilliant. I also was glad to hear his comments about ¨the car¨ when it comes to Lewis Hamilton´s driving. Just supports the point that Hamilton is one lucky guy to have fallen into the McLaren as his first F1 ride.

 

Criticism? There was none. See Ron's post above about the Tiger woods comment. Also he all but absolves Kimi regarding his performance in the second half of the year saying it was all due to a change in the car. That means a change in the car and not a change in Kimi's ambition or approach (you know slaking off).

Ron, Hamilton would be pulling a Vettel in the RBR if he was in that seat and you know it. As it sits now he's going to beat your Massa and you've got some sour grapes. Schumacher didn't disparage him in the least why should you? As a matter of fact he gave him incredibly high praise at the beginning of the interview when he was speaking about his being faster than Alonso.

 

It is a great interview. And MS represents himself and the Scuderia very well. His answers are well thought out and to the point. The Tiger Woods/Nick Faldo bit was priceless.

I did not see anything disparaging in Ron's comments. LH is a good driver, no doubt. But we WAS lucky to have started in that car. Talented or not, he could have been sent to a lesser feed team (while still under a Mclaren contract) to gain experience as many before him have.

You have to have the talent but luck is also very good to have on your side...

Charles, I do not recall in the interview that Schumacher stated that Hamilton was faster than Alonso. I believe all he stated was that he did well against Alonso. Please, quote Schumacher exactly if those were his words.

Please also point out exactly where I was ¨disparging¨Hamilton.

I think if you watch and listen to the interview again, you will hear Schumacher make a statement to the effect that he had a problem with the question of who is the best. And he also skirted the question about driving in the rain. What I said: I also was glad to hear his (Schumacher) comments about ¨the car¨ when it comes to Lewis Hamilton´s driving. Charles if you go back and listen to the interview again in a more objective manner, you will hear Schumacher point out that the car makes a difference when asked about driving skill in the rain, and that he did not have such a great car at the beginning himself. Even when asked if Hamilton at 23 was more advanced than him, Schumacher´s response was that all of the young drivers are more advanced.

I do not disagree with you about Hamilton possibly pulling a Vettel, but I also can not agree with you. I, you, have no idea what Hamilton can or could do in a secondary car. As you pointed out, Schumacher basically defended Raikkonen´s performance this year, and with Raikkonen´s adapting to the car. Raikkonen did fairly well in the McLaren when its wheels did not fall off. So staying consistent with that concept, what makes you think that Hamilton will do any better at adapting to a car that may not suit his driving style as does the McLaren?

Sour grapes? Can it Charles, I said nothing to that effect. Reality, Hamilton did not beat Massa for the WDC, Ferrari gifted the WDC to McLaren through a series of stupid mistakes. But that´s racing. Ferrari will still likely win the more important championship, the WCC. That is what is important to me.

Bottom line, I say this to anyone again because it is 100% true, Hamilton is one lucky guy to be in McLaren for his first F1 ride. Please show me how I am wrong.

 

All drivers are lucky at some point!, but some have more talent than others to back it up when it runs out.

Seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher believes Lewis Hamilton has made an "incredible" impact on Formula One.

The title battle between Hamilton and Felipe Massa has gone down to the wire and the McLaren driver needs a minimum of just six points in Brazil next weekend to become F1's youngest champion.

Schumcher says the British star has impressed him, especially during his rookie season in 2007 when he battled it out with former McLaren team-mate Fernando Alonso.

"I really rate him very highly because I believe that what he has done in such a short time is incredible," the German told BBC.

"Competing last year with Alonso and being often quicker talks for itself."

 

I'll be happy to take another look at the video later tonight.

What a great interview! He seems to be very happy and content with his life. Michael is a true success, in and more importantly now, that he out of the pressures of F1.

I hope he continues to be, as he now is...BRAVO MICHAEL!
