I would probably go with the laser interceptor. It's pricey, but if you foresee yourself getting tickets in the near future, it'll probably pay itself off immediately.


Tennis balls, driving slow, or using telepathy will not in any way block police laser or LIDAR units.

Regardless of which hardware you'll use the key is not leading the pack. If you're up front or all alone then guess who's the target. There are plenty of egos on the road that hate getting bruised (by being passed) so let them lead by a several car-lengths. A good detector will notice signals as the cops paint other targets way up ahead. However, remember that laser is instant-on and target specific so the cops can be biased anytime they want. Again, this is where a good detector can help.

 

My understanding is that due to the narrow beam a detector will 1) not be able to pick up something ahead painting other cars, and 2) if it does pick up YOU being painted .. it is too late .. you are toast.

 

Although laser is more difficult to detect than other systems Valentine One claims that is can see fragments and deflections, thus, early warning.

No detectors are 100% so I'd assume that if mine lit up for laser I'd be toasted.

 

Laser is instant on. You can't beat it. It's like turning on a light switch in a room, then trying to run out of the room before the light comes on. It's almost silly even trying. Slowing down is the easiest and cheapest option.

V1 will not jam or block LIDAR. It may pick up a stray signal, but it will most likely only let you know when you are being hit. It is only a passive detector, even though it is arguably the best passive detector on the market.

He needs an active jammer such as the laser interceptor or the laser pro park. Escort also makes a decent jamming system.

My V1 has picked up stray lazer signals many times

on the highway I keep it around 85-90 so I can slow down quickly and not be in reckless territory

I heard that high beams can interfere w lazer since they are both light sources

but then you'd have to drive w your high beams on all the time

 

I like my V1, but its ability to help against laser is limited. Once you have been lit up, it is too late even if the V1 screeches like mad. I have noticed that newer cars with LED tail lamps are giving my V1 more false laser alarms.

I worry about jammers - I always figure it will just piss cops off even worse. Unless traffic is very dense, it is obvious which one has the jammer. Remember, cops do not actually have to have laser/radar evidence that you were speeding. They just have to state/lie that you were exceeding the limit. A judge will take their word over yours and you are done.

The common laser jammer "strategy" is to slow down and then turn off the unit to let the officer get a reading (at or under the speed limit).

 

+1 All laser-detection technology relies on catching 'stray signals' from vehicles IN FRONT OF YOU getting lasered first. If you're the guy up-front, or alone on the highway, you're in trouble - there are no 'stray signals' to pick up. The only signal you'll catch is the one pointed squarely at you, and by then its too late to take evasive action. SO, don't be 'that guy'....
