Not sure if I know all of them but I think they are: E63 AMG / CL63 AMG / CLS63 AMG / CLK63 AMG and
CLK63 AMG Black Series / SL63 AMG and SL63 AMG Black Series. I'm not sure if that's all of them.

Running turbos and with out intercoolers = short engine life. that goes for the oil and transmission cooler those cars should have but dont.

Here is some literature i found for my car and it says i have intercooler'??? Why do you think they don't? I thought most high output turbos have them...

    From R&T

AMG's power mongers begin with the architecture of the twin-blown V-12 that powers both Maybach sedans and several upper-deck Mercedes and gives it a significantly longer stroke, upsized pistons, larger fuel injectors, higher intake-valve lift, longer valve-opening duration, larger turbochargers packing 22 psi of boost, a super-large air-to-water intercooler, oil jets that spray the bottom of each piston, and a big oil cooler. This amazing powertrain also can be had in the SL65 AMG roadster.

Yes they are inter-cooled.. Don't worry.. That engine is bullet proof, it might use a little oil but it won't blow.

The SL Black Series which will be available the beginning of 09 is the SL65 BS. There is no SL63 BS.

I hope I don't sound like a smartass, but I've always wanted to ask a 65 AMG owner:
What made you shell out for the 65 rather than the 63 (or 55)? Is it speed or just exclusivity? I know how much better the engine is, and you know how much better the engine is, but to everyone else in the world, they look the same...

I could care less what it LOOKS like to someone else. The reason I bought a 65 was the engine.

I have owned 3 600's and can say the 65 is worth the extra cash. Buy them 2 years old and get them for half the sticker. no brainer.

give me 12 cylinders and 2 turbos ANYDAY over the supercharged engines. If you gotta have more send the ECU to Renntech for 70-90 more HP.

My friend just sent out his SLR to RennTech should be interesting when he gets it back :)

I agree that the 12 bi-turbo is amazing especially with the ECU but they are far more delicate then the 8's not to mention costly to repair

the SLR is on my lisrt to own sometime. great car

I have yet to have any kind of problems with the 5 v-12 twin turbo engines I have owned. When owning one of these I would think cost to fix should not factor into ownership. I have a hard believing someone who owns a recent 600 or 65 engine would worry about maintenience costs.

Its good to hear that you have had such good luck with them. but RECENT....what about the first of the 600's that were biturbo that are now out there in the high $20k's low 30's?
Having worked for ferrari, maserati and bmw I have seen tons of people who are buying cars which depreciate too fast like bmw 740's and buy them for $28000 and come to the dealer and get a $3000 repair bill. $3000 may not be a lot to the person who originaly purchased the car but for most people who can only spend $30k on a car its a scary bill to get. I had a guy with a 348 that he got for $50k but didnt realize that it needed a major service and had a bunch of stuff broken and/or worn out got a $16k repair bill....for the record the car never left our lot as long as I was there...I guess it was more then he was ready to pay
