Next week.
+ 1. I'd love to be at SEMA all week too! I can only spare a couple of days next week, but I think it's going to be even better than last year!
I think SEMA is a little played out. I mean really how many more inches can you add to the rim size. How much more improved can you trick out the car. Its a great networking opp but the show seems to have stalled in the theme department. I think manufacturers dont really know what the next big thing or wave is and it seems the last 3 years were just more of the same old crap... Just my .02...
Operation Wheels of Freedom Foundation to be First-Time SEMA Show Exhibitor Foundation offers driver training program for returning US soldiers Las Vegas, Nevada November 4, 2008 Statistics indicate that an alarming percentage of US Military service men and women are involved in dangerous and sometimes fatal automobile accidents after they are released from service. America loses nearly one veteran of the Iraq and Afghanistan conflicts every day to auto accidents on US soil. Operation Wheels of Freedom Foundation (OWOFF) has designed a unique motorsports-style driver training program to help stop this trend. The program delivers a powerful combination of high-performance speed along with concentrated instruction on how to be safe behind the wheel. OWOFF program participants get on-track driving experience and pointers from professional race car drivers, along with a chalk talk session with pro drivers and facilitators that focuses on the perils of reckless driving by teaching immediately applicable skills and techniques. And the troops get to participate in an actual driving competition for prizes and the thrill of the ride. This combination of intense entertainment and mentored driving instruction imbeds powerful safety messages in the minds of participants. The mission of OWOFF is to honor, educate and entertain the men and women serving in the U.S. Armed Forces, and this mission has been achieved powerfully and effectively with the help of generous private and corporate funding sources. Continued help is needed as larger numbers of troops return home and the demand for the OWOFF program grows. OWOFF invites you to visit its display near booth #62001 at the SEMA Show to learn more about this invaluable program and see two vehicles that are used in the training. The booth is located in the Central Hallway near the VIP Exhibitor Lounge. Operation Wheels of Freedom Foundation is a registered 501(c)3 charity. Just so you people know, If you dont have a registered company and are showing up in shorts and flip flops dont expect to get in.
The best part of SEMA for me this year are the over 60 educational seminars I was invited to attend. I wish I had gone to some of the seminars last year when I went to SEMA, but there was just so much to see..... (and probably one of the largest trade shows, area-wise, I have ever attended).
Driving out Thursday after classes... making an attempt to see as much as possible on Friday... From what I hear - I'll see about 1/10th of the show - or less
I won't be attending this year, thank goodness... Some things in life, once is enough. SEMA is one of them.
I'm in the industry and I hear alot of companies are pulling out this year. The seminars are always great though
finally someone else has the opinion that i do...i admit the only reason i go is to network..its quite entertaining to observe the various designs that are supposed to be state of the art but often are more like state of WTF was he thinking when he built that??its hard to not bust out laughing at some of the POS people display.....plus its nice that in 2-3 days i can see old friends from open wheel, nascar and drag racing all in the same place!! pre reg is the way to go..unless you go way early parking is a complete joke and most important wear comfortable shoes!!
Good thing a few us are going to take pics and video for everyone who doesn't go! Yes, there will be less vendors this yr.
