Where are 997 GT3 Price going ?

996 GT3 maybe...I have an interest in a 2004 car for a family member and that is about the asking on it. Low miles, under 4K.

 

Checked cars.com the other day and there were a bunch of 996 GT3s in the 50s and 60s. Never thought they'd go that low that fast.

My friend has a 997GT3 and has at least one person that continues to offer him sticker for the car. He's had the car a year but only has 3k miles.

 

I have been watching pretty closely for a bit now. Not much is selling.

If you look hard enough, you can find a clean 996 GT3 in the low $70s, probably even the mid-high $60's.

997 GT3s are solidly in the $100-$110 range now, except for VERY low mileage, super clean, loaded cars. A silver dealer car just got listed for under $100k, and looks to be quite nice (under 10k miles).

If someone is offering your friend MSRP for their GT3, then a) the "someone" is very foolish, and b) your friend should take it and run. Prices are softening in the current economic climate for sure.

 

I unwound mine at the end of July for 124K, <1 year old, no track time 2.5K miles. Sticker was 121. Obviously rather a lot has happened since the end of July, but I have to say I'm glad I sold it! Thought a vaguely recent fchat data point might be useful...

 

His is a $116k sticker car. He has no intention of selling, loves the car too much and there's nothing else he wants to buy. When he decides to sell I think he'll do okay, low mileage clean cars always seem to keep a decent value.

 

He will be under $100k in resale soon, if he isn't there already.

Things are changing.

 

I'm pretty sure he doesn't care and I doubt his car will be under $100k anytime soon.

 

Thats Bull.....t. Here are the cheapest GT3 cars on cars.com. Most advertised GT3's are in the mid 70's.The one in the 50's has 53k miles on it. Half these cars are track rats. You cant judge a car by the ad. If its priced 10k below any other than there is probably a reason. good 996 GT3 are over 70k. Stop spreading in accurate info. Jon in Delaware

No dog in this fight but... not sure what "in accurate" (sic) info Robin posted. He said there were a bunch of 996 GT3's in the 50-60K range. You just proved him correct. He never said they were 98+ cars,... and no one expects the lowest price cars to be the lowest mileage cars...

 

Just calling it like I see it. After reading all the threads lately about car prices crashing, I've been looking around online for cars I wouldn't mind having, just to see where the prices are. I didn't visit any dealers, do any PPIs, or call any sellers... just looked at what people were asking. And yes, there were several GT3s in the 50s and 60s. Considering that transaction prices are typically lower than asking prices, the list of potentials gets bigger. The cars may be ratted out, may have track time (isn't that what they're for?), or have accident history, but the point is, you can get a cheap 996 GT3 today. I have a feeling the guys asking 70s will be lucky to get that. I'm not sure why anyone would get upset about this... If for some reason I tried to sell my '99 355 I'd be lucky to get $60k for it. I'm not concerned by it... it's just the way it is.

Hey I know those two cars.

Both neat well used cars for mid-sixties. The lower mile of the two having an updated/replaced slotted nose and other track goods. Fair prices for two real cool track cars.

 

My point for what its worth is one car is listed at 57k and has 53k miles and the other three are mid 60's and someone posts that " a bunch of cars are in the 50's and 60's". Get real out of a dozen GT3's for sale most in the 70's this post is missleading at best. Jon in Delaware

 

so.. out of a dozen (12 - your number), 4 cars (33%) are in the price range Robin stated.

1/3 is a signif number of the sample...

I passed on a 2004 GT3 with 24,000 miles last July. Still under factory warranty. Car was offered at $68K. Pretty sure it sold in the low $60's. That was before the market meltdown and guys started unloading track toys. One of the things that put me off was the car was at a dealer with no information on how the mileage had been accumulated. Had to assume that there were a lot of hard miles on the car. Also passed on a 2005 C4S Cab with 6K miles and under factory warranty. Sticker new was $113K. I passed at $58K. Doesn't matter how cheap these cars were if what I really wanted was a Ferrari.

 

Ahhh... but, Jon does have a dog in this fight. I believe it's a 2004 GT3.

 

Wow... can't imagine that a car like that would come down much further... were those cars a porsche dealers? may be time for a stop by champion porsche...

However, the Porsche dealers are dealing on cars in inventory, especially on 2008 911's with the big changes for 2009.

 

For the US market, 2004-2005 are the model years for the 996 GT3.

2007-2008 are the model years for the 997 GT3. There is a rumored tweaked 997 GT3 (PDK, etc) due in 2010.
