Must agree. 11 pages and counting, without any specific info from the man who created this thread in the first place.
Roy..Spill the beans already, this has gone on long enough. What are you up to, and is it or is it not related to the 2 Lambo dealers going out of business.
Roy was talking about the dealers closing and did not want to be the one state it first. The reason this big news and will shock the world is because OC was the biggest and top selling lambo dealer in the US. But what is not clear and I have heard from many, it is NOT due to falling sales..but "other" reasons involing the owners of the dealership. That is the question left. Also from what I have heard most of the cars ware consigments or have been taken to the dealer networks..not the Manheim auto auction!
No need for me to repeat what has been stated here by many others...AND I am sure this is not the only one that will have this type of ending. Terrible times for some Dealers...I think IMO this is just the begining.. The question is what will this do for remaining Dealers, prices, service, trust in the Industry........??
Correct...the cars DID NOT go to Manheim...I know of a multiple car package deal that took place at unbelievable prices...since then SOME of these vehicles have been resold at "local" south Cali auctions to other NON Authorized Dealers and as we all see now are showing up on E-bay and other locations. Information I have, suggests as many as 32 NEW remaing cars were "secured" by "other" parties that had financial intrest in these vehicles in the way of secured intrest. All in all, regardless od the how, why, when or whatever........it is not fun or nice for anyone. There are many individuals effected by this, all the way from the top to the Janitor that cleaned the building at night...think of it that way..many many many effected..to them I wish the best in the future!!
So instead you started a circle jerk thread reveling the demise of a fellow Lamborghini dealer? I wouldn't want your karma dude. Normally, I'd ask, "Why all the drama?", then I considered the source and had the answer. BTW, your GF is in jail......
VERY interesting news. I was out drinkin' just last weekend with an employee of Lambo OC who works the finance division. I told her that Ferrari prices have been dropping considerably in the past few weeks and it looks like alot of exotic car dealerships will be going downhill. I wanted to know her opinion on the topic, since I do not follow up on the Lambo market. She mentioned that alot of dealerships were suffering, but she was specifically very upset about "rumors" on the internet regarding Lambo of OC closing down. I'll admit I was pretty buzzed at the time, but I clearly remember her saying that OC Lambo is NOT closing down. I'm not sure how in depth employees know of the financials of the company, but she seemed pretty adamant about it, although she did mention that there would be job cuts and fear of losing jobs was rampant. This was just last week so take it for whatever its worth. I'll get in touch with her again, but it might be a sensitive subject to approach her with.
Having someone tell you not to worry, that nobody will lose their job is the "kiss of death". Years ago I worked in R&D for a big food company, there were rumors of cutbacks coming although our department (60 people) went on a 3 day "team building" retreat. The VP in charge of our group got us together and told us not to worry about the rumors, that we were safe. Two weeks later the axe fell on 500 people including many of us. The VP was on the list as well.
It's inconceivable to me that Lamborghini won't reestablish a presence in the Los Angeles area. It has to be their most important market in America if not the world. I'd go so far as to say that without valid representation in LA, Lamborghini does not have a viable future in the US. Of course the climate is awful right now but, as has been stated, there are many possible reasons any business goes under.
Don't forget, there is Beverly Hills Lamborghini covering the LA area. And, they just happen to open up their new Lambo dedicated showroom about two weeks ago. Timing? They will be the only Lambo dealer covering in LA and OC now. Than, one covering San Diego area, Symbolic Motors. I feel for all my friends down in OC, cause there is a huge lambo base there...with no dealer close by now.
+1 No way. Don't know the circumstances, but they will have a presence in L.A., even if Lamborghini Corporate has to open one itself.
Why they go down? RUMOR: I was told that the dealership may have been just a front to their other operations the ownership had!! It might have been the "other" business operation that caused the shut down! 3 weeks ago, I wanted to buy a car from them, but there was no sign of fire sale at all. Saddly, the same car I was looking at ended up at a local car dealer for LESS than what I offer OC! So, this makes me think it was very unexpected somehow.
Those are some incredible prices. The last link you posted has the auction currently at $135K for a 2008 Gallardo Spyder w/ no reserve. It will be interesting to see how much that one goes for. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Cars-Trucks___2007-Lamborghini-Gallardo-NO-RESERVE-ONE-OWNER_W0QQitemZ320314334544QQddnZCarsQ20Q26Q20TrucksQQddiZ2282QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item320314334544&_trkparms=39%3A1%7C65%3A7%7C240%3A1308&_trksid=p4506.c0.m245
Dear Lamborghinisti, Contraction of dealer network Downward pressure on pricing (big discounts on MSRP and used ( more cars flooding the market en mass ) Service will be better due to top-flight people being absorbed into network. Many of these mechanics and service personnel are highly factory trained and are known by personal reputation. Less than top-flight will be....unfortunately...let go. Trust....tough one. Perhaps the good independents will pick up the service slack.....Steve Gleaner of Driven Exotics and George Evans of Evans Automotive (less overhead than a dealer ) BTW I read on LP that it LOC closed because of the owners investing in questionable financial tools like credit default swaps.....not the dealership itself. I could be wrong...don't know much....just posting what I read. Shamile Freeze...Miami Vice !
Good points! The driving season is winding down here but I haven't seen any sign of a downturn in business because of the economy.
