I'm thinking they basically X-rayed the entire car looking for stress cracks, etc...even if they find an engine problem they can't change it without incurring the penalty...We'd all do the same given the circumstances...
I thought they did that every race. Love the well-wishing from the former WDC. Still as classy as ever.
Seems like they changed the rule in 2007: Except during the last Event of the Championship season, each driver will be permitted to use a replacement engine without incurring a penalty the first time this becomes necessary during the season.
