ask any driver who has raced if they thought glock was slow in the last few corners due to water. my answer would be no. anyway it doesn't matter.
IIRC, LH puked over himself last year in the BGP....Giving Kimi the title pretty much out of no where. This year LH almost Puked over himslef but got away with it. SHould have won easily last year, could have just as easily lost this year....equals out IMO.
Had Kimi not let Massa pass in the last race (against the rules) this would all be a moot point. Yet everybody is whining the Glock let Hamilton by. (which he didn't)
Yeah... It was to obvious to see Glock to just give up. It was a great race to see things come down to the wire, but after seeing Glock move over and let Hamilton go by, just killed it.
I think is a good idea, to give the phone number of the Suicide Prevention Lifeline to the mechanic who gave the green light to Massa at Singapore!!!
It appears you spoke too soon but it reminded me of this very vivid dream I had last night after drinking outside the box. True story-I was at the races with you and John and someone bumped me and my camera fell onto the track. Alan McNish ran over it and felt so bad about it he let me drive the car. I immediately wrecked in to FM but when I walked up to the car, sitting there was this stoner Daryrl who I sold some walnut logs to last week. Doobie hanging out of his mouth. There were also naked Patron girls. About as crazy as the last lap of the last turn of the last race of this crazy season. Congrats to LH and FM. The FIA made some bad rulings that LH overcame. Kimi certainly had some bad races and some bad luck. Oh well, off to find a new avatar for the winter.
Great race, great season,Massa has gained respect in my eyes,Hamilton lost a tiny bit with over aggressiveness with the midfield and panic at times,I'd nearly call it a draw. I did'nt see what happened with Glock, but that IS racing, there's a whole field out there doing their own thing, personaly I would have thought it Just if Glock had'nt spun (or whatever happened)and Massa had won , if not it would have been more so,Hamilton/McC were cutting it too fine imho, leaving no margin for error and very nearly paid the price, .....then again, things were tight all round .
Kimi is in the same team and so long as he wasn't ordered to do so, can do what he feels is best for the team that pays him. Different drivers in different teams competing against each other is something completely different.
I'm wondering whether he realized what role in the championship he was playing at that time or not. It could be that he saw Hami in his rear view mirror and thought he didn't want to get into the middle of the title decision, moving out of the way and by doing so actually deciding the title. Just speculating, but id' be interesting to see a post race interview with him as well as the telemetry from his car.
This is a quote from him on the F1 site: Timo Glock, Toyota (6th): "I was on dry tyres at the end of the race when it was raining quite badly and it was just impossible on the last lap. I was fighting as hard as I could but it was so difficult to just keep the car on the track and I lost positions right at the end of the lap. Finishing in the top six is a decent result for me because I'd been struggling with the car earlier in the weekend but we were very close to fourth place so I am a bit disappointed. It's the end of my first season with Toyota and I'm happy with it as a whole. It was not easy for me early on but we improved the car a lot and I also improved myself during the year. Since Hockenheim it's been positive for me; beating my target of 20 points and finishing on the podium as well is a good achievement. Now we have to work even harder for next year to make another step forward."
Ok differnt again from what we're discussing but when exactly did he "vow" to help ferrari?? He made public his hatred for McLaren but i can't recall him vowing to help.
Look, I am not trying to be a sour loser so congrats to Hamilton. In regards to Glock. It was clear he let everyone pass to give Hamilton the win. I rewinded the last corner over and over and track conditions were clearly dry and it sure appears as Glock pulled right out of the line to let Kubi, Vettel and Hami do pass. Now why he would deliberately let 3 cars by remains unclear to some but quite obvious to me. Congratulations Massa, you are one outstanding driver and individual, you are the true winner in my eyes.
Well anything coming from Alonso was just smoke, "i knew it"... I still don't like his chances going to Ferrari.
Felt the same way last year about Kimi winning the drivers championship. I got over it and in time so will you
+1 A looser driver going to a loosing team... Nice! Ferrari still owns the WCC which Mclaren can't claim.
It was one heck of an exciting lap or two at the end. I think Massa did a great job this season and with any luck would of been WDC. He kept Ferrari going when Kimi was in the toilet. Hammy was due to win and he is a racer. Overall a great season.
