if massa had of won the WDC today, we would have to put up with your dribble about him not being worthy, FIA involvement etc. so really we were in a lose/lose situation in summary, if hamilton kept his mouth shut or chose his words a bit better, then more people would like/respect him. he needs a few pointers from the tiger/roger/kelly etc hand book.
looked dry to me on the racing line also but I'm not losing sleep over it...Timo will always be the answer to a trivia question for we F1 fans and I think that's what we will remember him for here on FChat....dont think he'll be driving for Ferrari anytime soon...
My appologies, I thought Heikki was Hami's team mate... Where was my head all season? To think I was so blind to see Glock driving a Toyota, I guess the cars are pretty similar in appearance.
you guys are deluded if you think two team mates doing what it takes to win for each other, is the same as a driver from a different team lying down like a baby and deciding to stop racing with one lap to go.
Big congrats to Hamilton. Great season and although I was cheering for Massa, there is a poetic justice in Hamiltons 1 pt victory as he should have won last year. In the end, Massa had a great season and it could have been a championship season except for some bad events, but as he so aptly put it, "Thats racing". Class act and very thrilling last 6 laps. And another championship for Ferrari. Kudo's.
I'm glad we agree on this. To think some people think that a teammate out of the points should cost his other team mate a WDC, pshh...
sorry i thought glock was crying, couldn't see inside the helmet.....he was smiling... http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showpost.php?p=138164202&postcount=15
I will put this down to emotions blinding judgement. Utterly deplorable post and a shocking personal attack which has no place in community of so called enthusiasts of Formula 1. Regardless of which team or driver you supported this season, there is absolutely no reason for this.
It really looked as if he got off the racing line to let them by. I can't imagine what his reasoning was but after replaying and replaying that corner, the track was dry and Glock seemed to intentionally drive off line - something no one does that late in the race unless they want to go off or are over-driving the car. I didn't see anything to indicate he was over-driving though. It is a sad way for Hamilton to get his 1st championship. And if Vettel is in a better car next year, this might be Lewis/McLaren's last for a while. This will be an asterisk year for many fans.
+1 Timo/Toyota took the risk by continuing to run in dry tires to be able to get up to that high up. If it had been any drier it would've worked out AGAINST Hamilton and FOR Massa. But what's happened has happened. LH didn't win the WDC by only this race, nor did FM lose it only today. Kudos to FM gave it his best .. it was really that close and it easily could've been his WDC.
I wonder if he regrets his move, STR was a much better team at the end of the season. Although I think it was Bob Varsha that said today that STR is getting their engines from McLaren instead of Ferrari next year?
No that's Force India getting the Mercedes engines next year. That opens the door for RBR to switch to Ferrari engines, since FI is switching over. I hope they do, because Vettel and Webber deserve better cars than the way those current cars are performing.
+1000 This has been a great season, exciting till the end. Hopefully, next year's cars won't be too ugly, and they'll be able to pass more efficiently.
Very interesting comments from Martin whitmarsh regarding the end of the race: Just fantastic, what a finish," said Whitmarsh in an interview with ITV Sport's Steve Rider. "We knew we couldn't take any risks with Vettel, he's a young charger. "We were saying to Lewis: 'just take it easy.' "We came here for fifth place and we were racing Glock. "We had the GPS and we could see Glock coming back towards us, we had the conviction that we were going to catch him, but then you start to worry - is it raining as hard as you think it is, are you really going to catch him? "Had we really got this wrong? "We told Lewis 'don't worry about Vettel, Glock's on dries, you're going to find him on the last lap', but until you do it, you haven't done it." Whitmarsh said Hamilton maintained his composure better than the McLaren team as the final lap drama unfolded. "He kept his cool, I'm sure he was much cooler than all of us on the pit wall," he said.
I thought that when you said "In the end Massa is the ture WDC, he went out there and gave it his all. He qualified 1st and stayed there through out the whole race as well." you were talking about today's race. Were you talking about some other race from the past? You said Massa is the true WDC, and you justified it by saying he qualified on pole and held the position through the race. To me, that sounds like you are basing your judgment that Massa should be WDC on today's race. Because if you were basing it on prior events, you would have to acknowledge that Hamilton came into this race 7 points ahead of Massa, and that was after an FIA-imposed penalty. The WDC *is* based on the season, not on one race, so if you are saying Massa is the "true WDC" based on the season in total, then you are simply mistaken - because Hamilton has more points because he's done better overall. - Massa drove this race or better yet this whole season (even with all the stupid mistakes by his own team) with all his heart knowing that he had a slim to no chance of winning the WDC, which alone speaks the highest upmost volume of any sportsman no matter what the sport is. UNLIKE Hamilton who just sat back and showed no signs of a pulse, oh wait he did when he saw his comfort zone being threaten by Vettel. Hamilton didnt even try to help his own team (you know the team that has been catering to him since day one of his career) for the WCC, even if it was a slim chance he should have went for it. Lots of armchair quarterbacks have stated their opinions on here.... however, there have also been numerous people who have first hand experience with Hamilton. Whether that is meeting him, driving with him, or working with him. And they have ALL - to a man - said he is gracious, kind, selfless and very humble. So yes, he did wholeheartedly deserve to win today. I have no doubt he put forth his best effort, and was rewarded in kind.... despite the FIA trying to keep things artificially close. - Never meet him and I have no desire to. I based my opinion on those who have to race with him; after all they know him better than I do. And they have ALL - to a man - said he is gracious, kind, selfless and very humble. So yes, he did wholeheartedly deserve. - From what I have read and seen on TV my understanding is that there are quite a few drivers who think the total opposite of what you are saying.
Vettle beat Hamilton today, Hamilton again almost threw away his championship were it not for Glock being on dry tires, and he knows it. Saw the speed report and saw Hamiltons dad hugging him with a pissed look on his face, like he was saying , "you almost blew it."Even Hamiltons body language says, "yeah, I know I lucked out."
