FIRST Hong Kong Fchat Mini Meet - 2/11/2008

I pondered for a long time whether I should simply post the pics in the spotters thread or starting a whole new thread. In order to reflect the significance of this very first meet, I've picked the latter.

There are Fchat meets almost everywhere in the world and Hong Kong has quite a few passionate owners/enthusiasts on the board, yet we never had an official Fchat meet. Fortunately, DM18 has taken the lead and extra step to invite a small group of us to the Dog House - Home to his precious and stunning collection. It was great to finally meet and talk to some of the board members, everyone was real nice and down to earth; even though the meet was only a short 2 hours, it was definitely a great start for the HK Fchat community! Hopefully there would be many more meets/events to come in the future and thanks again to DM for the hospitality

It was very nice meeting everyone in person that day, big thanks to DM for organizing it and inviting us all over to see his collection in person.

Fantastic selection of cars for a 'mini' meet to brighten up an otherwise dingy day! The 288 is just... well... sensational! My all-time favourite car (I know I'm not the only one). Does it get out and about much? Seeing that on the road would make my day! DM, your Scud looks the business in white too. Do I spot a stealthy RS2 outside?

288 GTO gets out and about alot - Central, Mong Kok, NT, airport... It has been spotted many times in unlikely places. But not today - went to take it out and the battery was shorted out - what a pi_s off. Have no idea how old the battery is - at least 6 years and it never gave a hint that it was about to die. Lucky it happened before I left my garage. I am off to the Fiamm agent for a new one and will be back out soon to enjoy this perfect driving weather.

 

Good to see an Fchat gathering. Would have joined you guys, but I was running late because of family commitments. Oh well, maybe next time.

Just a quick introduction, I am a native of HK and residing in San Francisco, I visit HK every year and would like to catch up with you guys next time if it is okay.

I have been on the Fchat (Northern California) for a couple of years.

I am passionate about Ferrari. I take my 308 to Hillclimb, Track day and weekend spirited drives. Here is a short clip to share.

Hi Guys, very glad to see that there is some mini group for Fchat. Pls let me know if there is any new event in the future. I think we need to get together as we are all Ferrari lover and we can share experience.

Great looking garage, DM18. I've always dreamed of having something like that though my collection would just be scale models, cars are way too expensive here. Having a garage/workshop/personal functions room @ ground or basement with the family upstairs. What a dream!

Seeing the 288 GTO (which is drop dead gorgeous BTW) reminds me of the quote by Luca di Montezemolo about my favourite of all Ferraris, the 250 GTO. When asked how many were still around, he said, "of the 33 originals ever made, all 3,000 are working perfectly", referring to the number of restyled 250 and 330 chassis and other replicas. 288 and 250 GTOs both great classics!
