Seeing '05's locally in the 50's with nice options, one is even a CPO. Time to buy or hold out a few more months?

I am looking at the 996/997 market right now for my stepson (who is going to trade our 2004 Z06 Corvette).

We kind of think that a special edition in the 996 may be a better buy - maybe an X51 40th anniversary or of course a GT3...my suspicion is that when the new direct injection engines and that dual clutch gearbox arrive, early 997 will take another slip.

996's are a better buy, for sure. I like the design of the 997 better, especially the front end. I think in a couple of months a really nice 997 with low miles will be in the high $40's and I'll probably be a buyer then. I was looking for Masers but decided I needed something more pedestrian for a daily driver.

i hate the 996 styling. the shape is bland and the exterior is ice cubish. 993 or 997's will fair much better, imho. i think the 996's are akin to the late 70's 2.7 motor cars as far as desirability.

And apparantly they have kept up the 2.7's great reputation for reliability, too. However, our mechanic says the later 996s are pretty well straightened out on most issues.
