An FChatter and I were discussing a "Bucket List", some things we want to do before we die. He brought up a good point of it being things you experience rather than own. Curious what some of you guys have on your list.... Antony
My list changes every day, but I absolutely agree that experiences are far more valuable than material items. I've never regretted a single dollar spent on travel but I certainly have when buying "things".
Experiences are like a boat, possesions are like an anchor... Sorry, couldn't come up with a Ferrari quote near as poetic.
This may sound really asinine but I really want to do a single trade on the stock market with either equities or options that nets one million or more in profit. Other than that I really want to visit Alcatraz.
Hopefully I have time to live. But yeah, no bucket list yet, off the top of my head: Drive a Ferrari, Lambo, whatnot Travel a hell of a lot ...don't really know any more, but other peoples posts will help my list.
Some I have: *Drive an modern F1 car on a public road *Cannes Movie Festival *Sail around the keys *Sky Dive *Play Golf at Augusta *Date a supermodel (by date I mean short term) *fly super sonic I have many many more....I got some work to do
- Monaco GP - See the northern lights - Backpack through Europe - Direct a movie that receives an Academy Award, Sundance FF Award or Cannes FF Award. - Drive 200mph, track or not. - Skydive - Witness an event truly revolutionary that will be seen in history books for years. Thats off the top of my head, luckily I have a good number of years ahead of me.
Didn't think of that, there is one off the list. Its kind of sad that we no longer think of 9/11 a lot of the time.
This is a very short list I had on a word document. I had to add some of your guys' ideas too (but they arent on this post) Some of the numbers are out of order, those are the ones I just deleted because I did 'em. My Bucket List. Note: Take Pics 1) Travel visits as many UNESCO World Heritage Sites as possible. There are 878 of them. 2) Get to 6 continents. Maybe Antarctica. 3) Go on a true Safari. 4) Help people in poverty in a foreign country 5) Travel to sites of family history; Belvedere Palace, some towns my Grandpa was in during WW2, maybe try to replicate some pics, etc. 6) Skydive 8) Relax on a grassy hill in Germany or Austria. (you know those old style Bavarian towns? A grassy hill overlooking one of those preferrably) 9) Compete in, or watch, the track and field Olympic games. 10) Everything possible in Athens, and all of Greece really 11) Visit the Ferrari factory, Lambo factory, etc. 12) Really DRIVE a Ferrari 13) Drive a true Vintage car, through the mountains with the top back, if the car is a convertible 15) Drive on a race track 16) Do over 200 MPH 17) Ride an Elephant 18) Feed all kinds of rare animals 19) Ride a canal boat in Venice 20) Visit the Amalfi Coast 23) Cross country/continent motorbike trip. Nowhere too scary though. 25) Ride a bicycle across the entire U.S
And if I could, I would have "See Led Zeppelin play a live show in 1975 or before" on there and have it crossed off. Why oh why did I have to be born in 1989? You win this time....time. I really am jealous of anyone who saw (and remembers ) seeing Zep live...
Well, I cannot sleep, I have a lot on my mind (see the 2nd dash) kind of thought of some though. Some inspiration from other posters -Go to India again, and find out more about my "extended" family and ancestors -I really don't think this is really a bucket list material, it's possible for me, but I just don't have the nerve, I want to talk with my grandparents about being way to over critical/try to change everything with just me and not anyone else in my family, cousins...etc. (I.E, I'm left handed, so they want me to switch to right hand, apparently its bad to eat with a damn spoon with your left hand, but why screw with the way I am, oh and I get this everytime I eat (with a utensil) at their house; eat more since I'm short, hmm...my grandmother is about 4' 11", I wonder why I am short, no, I'm not 4' 11"; They want me to be more outgoing, since they attend parties and follow me around everywhere; soooo much more, but you get the idea, and I feel like I just ranted a little, but I did not) -Go to Europe, drive the autobahn, visit the factories, drive the Nuerburgring, go basically everywhere. -Extreme sports, skydiving, bungee jumping -Get a puppy from a shelter or anywhere, I just want a puppy. -Learn a language completely (writing and spoken) -Learn how to ride a motorcycle, get licensed -Meet my dream girl, marry my dream girl, I'd probably need to get the nerves first. -Meet a influencial/inspirational person in history in person (I heard Obama give a speech here at ASU, but not shaken hands and speaking with him) I think I should also create a word document. This is what happens when you can't sleep and have to much on your mind before going to bed.
To everyone who has skydive on their list it is amazing. Not too expensive, and only takes a few hours. Take a day off of work with a buddy and get that one out of the way. My list is being made constantly, but I have smaller things like take a deep breath and enjoy life for a few hours. Sometimes that is hard to do.
Off the top of my head Go to the 24 hours of LeMans Learn to fly GP at Spa Visit Senna's gravesite Fly in a hot air balloon
-Race in the 24 Houres du LeMans... and finish -Make good money -Live in Monaco -Coachbuild a Ferrari
I actually do have a Word document on my computer at home with short and long-term goals, but here are some off the top of my head, in no particular order: - Buy my first home (in SoCal) - Pilot's license (already started.. decided it was too impractical at this point) - Have a son (I suppose a wife goes along with this?) - See the world - Own a Ferrari (duh) - Get my photographs published (already working on this) - Get an MBA from a top school - Gain weight (working on it) There's a pretty cool website www.43things.com where you can enter goals and see other people with the same goal, get advice, etc. Kinda fun.
It's not that easy, at least for me. I would probably chicken out. , I would do it, but you always have that "bad" feeling.
This list makes me think of 2 different things: -There are many "to-do's" that really aren't that difficult. Make the effort an get it done!! -There are many things that we take for granted!
This might sound corny but anything I want to do I do it now. If I suddenly found my days were numbered that may change a bit.
Im sure that my list will never be completed. With my luck I would complete the last thing on my list and think "oh jeeze I forgot that I want to do this, and that, blah blah blah" A few things on my list: Travel, all over the world: See the pyramids Visit the Great Wall of China, Forbidden City, Tienanmen Square. Red Square in Moscow Rain forest in Brazil Times Square on New Years Eve Hike up to the Mount Everest base camp Own my own home Learn how to play the Electric Guitar and the Drums Eat sushi in Japan Write a book and have it published This is something Im not that sure I want to do, but it would be interesting: Spend a night in the drunk tank. There is so much stuff to do and see, that I think my list will keep building. Its good to have goals though.
